It's a sharp costly watch!!! All it really needs for me would be a date.

It's one of those watches that when you try it on you immediately think: "I MUST have this!!!"

Tops

That's a top watch but anyone that knows Rolex will know that's a Gould model because off the bezel and that's it as for showing off it's not to blingy I don't think that the chav will know

I bought one very early on in the release and LOVED it...went on a trip one day and the wife took it to the jeweler and had a link removed and has worn it ever since.

I've bought her other watches...nope...she won't give it up.

I offered to buy her the other "ladies" version...she said nope.

I've bought myself at least 15 more watches since hoping to replace it's draw on me...nope.

I've come VERY close to just buying another..which i'll likely end up doing.

yes I like it that much

My wife wants mine as well. I still have the stickers on, I like it that much! She has several other Rolex and AP.

I’m Thinking I have to give in

Is keeping the stickers on a sign of liking a watch? I thought it was a sign of having one foot out the door.

As soon as it was released and I saw the pictures/details it was instantly my favourite Rolex of all.

I then saw one at my local AD,they let me try it on and I knew straight away I had to beg,borrow,steal-do anything necessary to own one.

I sold 4 of my other cherished watches that I had owned a long time to provide the funds-including my 116509,PAM 140 and PAM 185.

Quite a few people told me I was crazy spending that much on a Rolex-It would depreciate massively etc but I reasoned that my 16628 cost me £8000 twenty years ago nearly new(every penny I had at the time)Id had 20 years of pleasure from it-it’s still like new-I still love it as much as the day I bought it and if I chose I could probably get at least my £8000 back now for it.To me that made the 116506 a safe bet.

I bought the baguette diamond dial model brand new from a grey dealer I have used and trusted for many years for £38k.I can honestly say I haven’t been so excited about getting the watch since getting my 16628 all those years ago.

2 years plus on my feelings are still the same and have no desire to change it for any other watch.

I'm in the minority but I don't love this reference. The ice blue dial just doesn't go in my opinion. I much prefer the white gold and steel/black dial (116519LN)

I absolutely LOVE this reference! It’s my grail and Imho is the most beautiful Rolex......... however it is WAAAAAAAAAAAY OVERPRICED!!!!
Platinum is cheaper than gold, even if it’s harder for o manufacture, it shouldn’t be three times the price of the gold Daytona!!! $75K is redicous!! Even $60K BNIB after discount is still overpriced imho

It’s an American expression meaning “not very committed.” If you have one foot out the door in a relationship, you are on your way to ending it.

I've had mine for about five years.
Hardly what I'd call blingy.

I have traveled the world and wear it often, but no one has ever given a second look.
Ever.

The only time I have really gotten any comments on it has been when I walk into a watch store, especially a Rolex AD. I have noticed that with that on my writst, I get lots of sales attention and they are happy to let me try on anything in the case.

The only other time is when a friend picks it up or tries it on (I occassionally with take it off my wrist to dry sweat etc.). They, nearly invariably, say "what the heck is this made out of.... lead?!"

A beautiful watch and, although I have been a serial flipper, I cannot imagine ever parting with it.
... although I have also learned to never say never when it comes to watches.

As soon as I got mine, I ripped those stickers off and sized it myself. That watch is a keeper!!!

OP: Sorry I missed your incoming, fantastic watch and mega congrats!

I would love to add one to the collection one day, if I can ever get the numbers to line up.

By mistake I wanted to post this here but posted in the official platona thread. There is actually a couple of Middle East versions with Hindi numerals which were released as Basel 2018 novelties. Here's the post:

Hmmmm. Seems like a "regular" platinum Daytona. Why wouldn't it end up at $50-$55k?

Congrats OP!

I like the ice blue and brown contrast on the dial. The weight was the issue (not that I would have purchased it lol), it was to heavy for me when I tried it on 2 years ago.

Would like to see what the one at Phillips goes for, only time will tell now...
