Wow. This is smart. I would have never thought of doing this

That's a great idea... but id be worried about knocking the bezel and thus putting the wrong date on everything! But fantastic idea!

Steel shortage getting to OP. Buying a watch that you don’t want because it’s available.

You’ll never get hurt buying the Sub date/no date. Lots of folks believe the sub no date is the true Sub. If you’ve got to have one just buy it.
If you can wait then wait.

No, All time pieces require a date complication.

I love the way the cyclops looks.
Also I never thought it would make a difference but i find myself actually using the date complication all the time. I’m glad to have a date on my wrist for a daily watch.

I prefer the appearance of the Submariner without a date window and cyclops. It's also a simple but good daily exercise for my aging mind to try to remember the date. I bought a Submariner Date, wore it a few years and sold it, bought a Submariner and kept it. I've owned a number of Rolex watches including SS, TT, and PM models but I've sold every one except for my 114060. But, your preferences may differ from mine.

Stopped by my local AD and casually asked if they had any subs in stock, fully expecting it to be a rhetorical question, he went to check in the back and brings out this baby still in the “coffin”. Was not planning on making a purchase, but since he had to slay a few dragons to get one for me (haha) just had to take it home with me. Personal preference and I am no connoisseur, but the date function completes the look for me. And that crown standing up like that, was just a plus.

No date is the original and classic. I personally prefer it but there are others that need the date. If you prefer and need the date, I would curb my impulsivity and wait for one.

Most of us watch guys call them Sub date and no date (ND)

I know these aren’t the official terms but us Rolex guys tend to use them
