Those prone to placebo effect swore they saw a difference, but objective measurements and side-by-side photos reveal nothing different in terms of actual shape or proportion. Finishing has been altered, as has lug-hole placement. That would seem to be the extent of the redesign.

Nevertheless, Supercase haters take this as a sign Rolex is heading back to five-digit proportions on the sports models, and cling to it as an article of faith that their prayers will be answered with a more-svelte Sub. Nobody knows anything about what will happen with the Sub, but given the lockstep design history of the GMT and Sub, I would say odds are better than not that the Sub case will change very little - if at all - in its next iteration. Rolex could throw a curveball, of course, but if I were betting money, I'd go with history over hope.

I largely agree with JacksonStone RE lugs. However on their newest diver (the SD43) the lugs and bracelet seemed to be dramatically redesigned. Not sure if this points to a redesign of the entire diver range.

Whatever it may be I am just looking forward to seeing the new incomings, delighted owners and new topics. Like opening a fresh box of chocolates, so much to see although none to choose from for the majority of us.

Indeed they were, and prior to the GMT this year, I would have laid even money on the Sub and GMT both following the SD43. However, the GMT is more recent, and alters the picture. I suppose the Sub could go either way. If it follows the SD, then Rolex obviously is intent on having a separate diver range with its own design DNA, leaving the GMT as a standalone design. But given the Sub's historical similarity to the GMT, that's the direction I think it will go. Of course, I'm reading tea leaves.

My prediction: Given that the pink/purple GMT is now behind us, 2019 can hardly be worse. Coke GMT won't happen yet because the GMT was just recently updated. But when a Ceramic Coke on SS does appear... maybe in a few years.... it will be the One Watch To Rule Them All! (Next to the SD43, that is )

Thanks for the info. Yes I am one of the supercase haters. TBH the only thing keeping me from a GMT..

Perhaps it's my having been raised by an irrational mother who justified all of her parenting actions by saying, "Think about it," when it was clear she hadn't thought about them at all, but I now see an unqualified use of the phrase as intellectually lazy. Could you tell us why you think the Coke is the natural thing to do, since you're the one advancing the proposition?

Tudor steals the show for Rolex and Breitling for overall.

2020 will be announced as the last Basel for watches and the manufacture brands will splinter off to do their own thing.

Would love to see the same colour green that's in the 34mm be offered in 39.

Other than that, BLNR will get the updated movement from the BLRO and choice of oysterflex, jubilee and oyster bracelets across the GMT model line.

Pal, this is definitely coming. It's just matter of time. Either this Basel or next year.

TT Pepsi? That would be absolutely heinous...

And why do people want a Ceramic bezel on the Explorer II? Buy a GMT Master, if that's your look. The Steel bezel is more durable for something named the Explorer with the pedigree, to boot. Sure, Ceramic is scratch resistant, but we've all seen the threads showcasing how they shatter when impacted. Pointless on something designed to be worn in the most austere environs, if you ask me...

I would love a new 3-6-9 Explorer dialed Submariner, but I doubt that will happen. A blue ND steel Submariner would be nice, but I'm also not holding my breath.

I think one of the things that keeps Rolex what it is is the glacial speed at which they change their lineup. And honestly, does it even matter what they release if no one can get their grubby mits on it, anyways?

Wouldn't a SS YM with a Ceramic bezel essentially be... a Sub? I think the whole point of the YM line is something more "upscale" than a Sub that you can wear around the country club without looking like you only have a basic Submariner on... A gold or platinum bezel fits that persona a little more than a basic ceramic bezel, I think.

I reckon TT Daytona's ref 116503 would get an upgrade (maybe considered a downgrade to some) with a ceramic bezel.

I would get this in a heart beat as this is the only reason that's stopping me from buying a TT Daytona.

Oh yes, the coke gmt to replace the outgoing BLNR. It won't happen overnight, but it WILL happen.

Kinda yeah, kinda no. Such is the confusion of the current state of the YM lineup. The number scale on the YM ceramic bezel is in relief, rather than engraved, and is all black with the numbers distinguished by texture, rather than platinum PVD as on the Sub. Add in the case polish and shape, dial colors and accents, and bracelet PCLs, and an SS YM with a black ceramic bezel will still look rather distinct from an SS SubC. That said, it won't be as distinct as the current platinum-bezel versions. I'm in favor of keeping the platinum bezels.

Re-thinking what I just said, there's also the question of dial color, and what goes with the bezel. I don't know if the current blue or rhodium dials would go well with the black bezel, and I don't think matte blue or gray bezels would be a good look for the YM. That leaves a black-dial option, similar to the PM version. Add in a red line, and you really are in Sub/SD43 territory. That may be too similar for Rolex to stomach.

A couple mock-ups from the Interwebs...

I'd also love to see Tudor do the Black Bay Chrono in other color options. The black is great but to have one with a white dial or silver dial would be awesome.
