We are pretty accustomed to cold weather in Minnesota, but this blast of arctic air is colder than usual. Last night, the air temp dropped to -30 F (-34 C) and its going to get worse. By mid-week, the wind chill temps where I live (50 miles east of Fargo) are expected to hit -65 degrees F, or -54 C.

And for anyone who says wind chills aren't real, come on up for a visit and find out for yourself.

Here is the map of the air temps last night in northern Minnesota:

I have lived in MN for 30+ years and was just outside for a bit. Odd feeling when you come inside and begin to feel colder as your extremities warm up. Usually in these temps, the wind is not very active. This is a different beast entirely from my experience, which will get much worse tonight and tomorrow. -15F at the moment with gusts over 25 MPH.

Minneapolis had the Super Bowl last year. If we had had it this year instead, we would've never heard the end of it. Coldest in a generation.

You guys are killing me with some of these warm temperatures

The next three days are supposed to be in the minus 25-30 C range with windchills in the negative 40’s ...

If I didn't think it would wreck the lubrication in my watch, would leave my Tudor outside overnight to see what happens.

I just took a photo of this yearling in the yard. Survival is difficult for them. The current temp is -29 F with a windchill of -60.

I did that in 2015 when I left my Sea-Dweller outside in -25 to -32 degree temps. It ran fine, but the lume turned blue while the watch was cold. It returned to normal when it warmed up.

Nice photo, Joey. Yes, this weather is rough on wildlife. Don't know how these animals get through it. I think I remember that post on you leaving your watch outside. Stay warm! We could go to South Africa, where it is 114F today. Think I prefer what we are experiencing.

I might be crazy, but I'd rather be here his week than with the snowbirds in Texas or Arizona. Now a nice Mayan Riviera beach would be an exception.

I'd say it's cold in the midwest.

https://jalopnik.com/chicago-is-so-r...ack-1832177510

I wore a t-shirt today and had to turn the AC on in the car, so I won't complain. Seriously, though, you guys be safe!

The wind chill just north of town this morning is -66 degrees F below zero. But by Saturday, the high will be 33 above. A 100 degree change.

We are up to -10F with a feels-like of -33F now that the sun is out. Was colder when I came in. First time I've worn full bibs, boots, and parka just to drive to work at an office. I wanted to be able to survive walking outside if I slid off the road. Thankfully people are driving pretty rationally.
