Tenured member does not dictate anything.

I think sometimes on forums things are interpreted differently than OP meant to convey, crowd mentality takes over once there's "blood in the water," and things break down. I imagine most folks who have read many of OPs 20,000 previous posts would give him the benefit of the doubt here.

Benefit of doubt? He is debating on why he was in the right to tell a 10 year old kid that his watch was not what his mom told him it was.

You posted something on a public forum for the whole world to see. Expect criticism of which you may or may not like.
Just because it’s how you feel, doesn’t mean it will be received in the same light.
Always remember anything you post no matter how innocent you think it to be, it may not be to others.

it matters. No multiyear tenured high post count member is going to engage in a massive deception of making up stories unless that is already their established pattern. Once you are established you also care about your reputation. You have a long, long post history and people already know the kinds of topics and stories you post about. There is no point in making anything up.

New members absolutely because no one has a clue who they are. You earn credibility and tenure and post count is a factor. Not based on the specific number but because you are known. Its a small community and people making stuff up its pretty easy to tell.

Case in point... every time BC comes back people here immediately recognize the posting style. Doesnt matter what the username is, we know. We are pretty good at sniffing this stuff out

OP's first post all but acknowledged that readers may have a different view of the vignette. He should not be surprised, therefore, to receive criticism on a public forum as each member wonders, "How would I have handled this situation?".

Sometimes it's better to let kids believe something not perfectly true. I don't see the value in telling him his watch isn't what his mother wanted him to believe it is.

Sorry, but I have to agree with this.

I was not even close to saying, that.

You're in a fantasy world. You weren't there. You're perspective is so far off from the way things happened that it is only a reflection on your twisted mind and your clear desire to create a situation in which you seek revenge for something that doesn't require it. Toxicavenger my ass, more like just plain toxic.

No where is it said that his mom told him it was solid gold; that is in your and Badullah's mind. I neither started the conversation nor was the child at all surprised by the revelation. The boy's mother never said it was gold. That is your hallucination. And as far as having to agree to anything, I hope the guys with the gun to your head leave shortly. Also never was the word "Rolex" mentioned.

Tenure ? Good Lord. We all know of other members, with thousands and thousands of posts, who reached "tenure status of a watch forum" go down in smoke for being who they aren't for various reasons.

My observations are my observations only. I belong to multiple watch forms,
where I post more often than here - it just seems strange to me that on TRF, there are countless types of threads where Rolex owners are caught up or have these strange encounters with "others" who are beneath the worthiness of the Crown. If you are a member here, you know the type of threads I'm talking about.

Post some examples from here instead of just hand waving.
