Getting so boring ,the same old rhetoric over and over

I am beginning to like and wear my DJs more and more ..you want one ,you get one, even at a slight discount .Fun to buy ,fun to wear. How it should be .
I love my DJ 41 too. I should say I have learned to appreciate a wide variety of Rolex offering. As a result, the frenzy over the SS sports does nothing to me.

If more Rolex fans are like us, we probably wouldn't have seen this madness.

But then again, if more like DJ, then we would probably see a "DJ shortage."

Agree with you.

What the greys are doing is pushing the envelope to test the limit of irrationality of the market.

If they get away with the sky-high asking price then more money to line their pockets; if they don't then they can still discount and settle for less profit.

In any case, the psychological boundary of what is considered a "reasonable" price is being moved up with each price hike.

It stands a good reason that Rolex is pulling out all the stops to curb the greys. All that these price hikes would do to the brand is to eventually turn it into a discount brand for the whales.

I'm amazed more people don't see it. It was the first thing I noticed when RPR leaked the photos the day before Baselworld. The hands were so screwy, I assumed the pic was a fake.

I bought myself a Datejust back in 2003 when I was in college. Haven't looked at Rolex since. However, for some reason, I've always been a fan of the Yacht-Master. Came close to trading in my DJ a few years back but didn't pull the trigger.

I've been looking for an everyday, understated, sporty looking watch. Couple watches that have crossed my mind were an Omega and a Jaeger. But nothing that really piqued my interest.

I honestly think I really like this new YM and I'm pretty sure I would buy it. It would be unfortunate not to be able to buy one at MSRP from an authorized dealer just because this so called "grey market" exists. I've only inquired at 3 dealers and each said the demand will be high.

We're getting mixed information here. Other members have reported that their ADs have seen a very muted response from customers, and relatively little interest in the new model. Time will tell. Typically, PM models are not hot sellers and do not command premiums in the aftermarket, at least not once market stasis has been established. Even if the YM42 is the exception to the rule (which I honestly doubt), the DavidSW price is clearly first-out-of-the-gate pricing. I don't anticipate it will hold in the long term.

It seems like the 2019 releases are hitting the market quickly. This watch is not on my radar, let's see how it does.

With new releases appearing on greys before even being displayed at ADs makes a mockery of Rolex and it’s authorised dealer network.

For a company that prides themselves on perfection and tradition this must surely be an issue for them.

Can't argue with the pricing if they sell so quickly. They are worth what people are willing to pay

It’s been sold for a bit now yet still shows on his site. Anyone ever wonder if sales are faked to create hype and attempt to control market value?
