I don't like the smooth bezezl of the Platinum DD. My choice would be the Platona.

Platona vs DD40...vs 118206?

What about the 118206 as the bargainers choice? $25k easy with no connections. Less with cash and a grey buddy.

This is really a helluva good option.
This is more complicated than meets the eye (value, aesthetics, preferred case sizes, size/diversity of collection, being able to fly under the radar, etc.), and I appreciate MalibuBoy,s perspective.

Having 6.5-6.75” wrists, I didn’t initially feel like I had a dog in this fight. This is because I’ve got plenty of SS/TT/YG 40mm tool watches in the collection (their most common size), whereas I choose 36mm every time on anything else that’s both Rolex & non-professional. In other words, I can’t pull off (not can I fully appreciate) the proportions of the 40-41mm Presidents, yet I’m totally ok doing so with a professional- they were designed from inception to look right in that size. They weren’t stylistic evolutions of a former concept.

But I have both YG and platinum Presidents in 36mm. While I feel there’s absolutely nothing more classic than a YG/Champaign/fluted President, it’s not a daily piece for those who appreciate discretion (hence the handle). However, I can appreciate the Jackie Stewart 118206 as a grail piece, which just so happens to fly under-the-radar. For a trim guy like me, it serves as the anti-Gold President. YMMV.

There is only one DD without a fluted bezel. So it gets my vote by a mile.

The 116209 is WG DD and also has a smooth bezel as the PT DD

The Pt Day Date reminds me way too much of a Date Just 41 or II. This decided my choice to go for the Daytona.
