Holy smokes!

That’s really cool

Thanks for sharing this info. I’m looking them up online and the smaller divers look really cool.

That’s really cool. I wonder if Tudor will ever output something like that now a days.

That would be so cool.

Perhaps instead of Rolex issuing a new smaller Submariner they will have Tudor do it.

The modern Sub is not a "small watch" but it isn't large by any means. It wears smaller than most dive watches out there. The older Subs are small watches for divers by today's standards.

As you said, there is a Yachtmaster 37mm. If a woman wants a watch that looks extremely similar to a Sub, certainly to a non-enthusiast, then there is the option. The vast majority of men do not want anything smaller than the modern Sub. Rolex doesn't want a "that's a girl's watch" comments. That is why they have beefed up their entire line of watches.

Women who wear the Sub enjoy the larger size. I don't think I've ever met a girl who has wanted a small Submariner. It's small-wristed hardcore enthusiasts who want that and they were given a BB58.

obviously people will find a way to bash everything, but a 37-38mm sub as you mention would be lovely, even a GMT in the same size....I'd be very interested in both

Nope, I think 40mm for the Sub is perfect. I like both the maxi-case and the 5-digit cases. The maxi-cases sit well on my wrist and I find them more comfortable to wear than the 5-digits (I used to wear a 14060 daily and when I would put on my 116710, I would always immediately notice that it just sat better). If you have small wrists, then you can always pick up a 5-digit Sub (14060 especially), plenty of them around. Or opt for the 36mm Tudor Sub which sell for relatively cheap compared to their 40mm counterpart.

Why not make a DSSD-mini while they’re at it.

Imo- 40mm only or venture into all the other categories of smaller variants already produced.

Is this the Hodinkee limited edition? Either way, watch looks fantastic!

I don't know why people are okay with upsizing a watch, but when it comes to downsizing they instinctively point at the smaller existing models.

Even though the same could be said for upsizing. "Want a 42mm Exp II ? Nope, its natural size is 40mm. If you want something bigger, dunno, buy a Panerai or something".

Looks like it... I would have loved it without the fake aged lume. Personal pet peeve.

No.
40mm is bare minimum for a ‘professional’ tool watch.

Yes. I was able to snag one of the 100. I love the watch. At 38mm it wears pretty much perfect on my wrist. The 100hr PR is also very useful. Just a great diver IMO.

39mm could be the sweet spot for the sub.

God no!! It’s perfect if not a shade too small.

I have 6.75” wrists...relatively flat on top so I can wear larger watches wo an issue.

This particular Blancpain was meant as a throwback to the earlier Technisubs from 50’s, not unlike the Rolex 5508 w a 37mm case. I agree that the correct Sub is great in 40mm, but I do like the more vintage sizes for these one off throwback models. Rolex don’t play in this space but many other brand do.

I agree with the sentiment of most people on this thread, 40mm is perfect. However, I’d love to see a pairing down of the maxi case back to 16610 dimensions. If/when that happens, I’ll gladly own a sub again.

I’d buy one in 41 or 42. I have large wrists.
