So just here is an update. Flamesuit is on...

First of, special thanks to ocN55 for such a wonderful transaction. Sam is a very sincere and considerate person. Had a terrific transaction with him with great communication and customer service that is superb. I found myself a source that I will definitely go back to... Buy with confidence!

So my GMT is gone :( 24 years of TLC is no more. As others have mentioned, "if it no longer sings to you", time to move on. I'm no collector and don't intend to be so I make sure that every piece I purchase will be worth while for the years to come.

So far, no regrets. Here is the replacement..

Also, just wanted to share a comparison between Rolex Blue Sunburst vs Omega Blue Teak / 41mm vs 41.5mm

Finally, lume shot...

That’s a FAR better swap. Love the blue dial with jubilee and fluted bezel.
Congrats!

I have a 99 A serial 16700 full set that I bought new & have thought about selling a few times over the years but haven’t yet . In your case I think you have done the right thing with this deal, I think if any watch doesn’t do it for you anymore then it’s time to sell or trade ,for something that you will get more pleasure from

Yep, my GMT didn't make me feel proud like it used to do or in other words the "Wow" factor was gone for me. I guess that I'm not a true enthusiast that appreciates vintage timepieces like the GMT Master from 1995. The only thing that made me hesitate is the fact that I have been wearing the GMT for more than half my life since I was 19. I remember even cutting school to buy the watch with a friend :) But I told to myself that I have an aunt who was married for 23 years and eventually separated, no complications, but rather just fell out of love. Our watches are just material things :)

Thank you CPR!

Fantastic DJ, the quintessential modern Rolex. I think that’s a very acceptable trade.

Thank you. Would you find it acceptable if it was for a used 1-2 year old DJ instead, or it does not matter? Just curious :)

You didn’t do too bad.... I’ve seen 16700 go from $8 to 14 on here recently

Assuming it was in excellent condition it wouldn’t worry me. These things will last longer than we will!

Congrats, very happy for you. You managed to get the fluted blue dial watch. Wish I had mentioned diamond dial, do you think you would've managed to get that too.

Congrats! That is a beauty of a DJ41. That seems like a fair deal. I know were not splitting hairs here and making an easy deal without the time consuming complications is worth something. Enjoy!!...

Well done OP - you got a very nice modern upgrade. Yes it's very nostalgic and melancholic to keep hold off the vintage GMT but life is too short. You went for the watch that in your heart you wanted rather then the watch everyone ELSE is telling you to keep.

Thanks Kwingy. Your comment really erased any remaining regrets I had about this particular acquisition. I really appreciate your words of wisdom. Thanks again!

I doubt it. I may have if I sold the GMT to a private party.

Yes!! Another great point. Easy transaction with no hassles of haggling or buyers backing, etc.

No problem man! Just enjoy the watch. Those pics are stunning. That DJ in that config is a match for any SS sports hyped model.

Duuuuuude... that DJ41 is a beautiful watch. Good trade for sure. People will be pining after this one if/whenever the time comes to trade again. Health, wealth and happiness!

I would have done that trade too......

Since getting my DJ41 on Jubilee last year, I seldom wear my BLNR.

Sometime in the future, the BLNR will likely go. Since owning the DJ (which is much more comfortable) the sport bezels feel a little bit 'flash'.

Likely just me getting older, but there you go. I just prefer the refined understatement nowadays

Did they use soap? Only kidding - if I were the AD I'd be begging you to do the trade.

No way.
