Winter Jacket Discussion

My main winter jacket are Moncler,my backup jacket are Arcteryx set (down vest or atom and gore tex shell) though I can mix and match with my other vest,midlayer and shell depending on the main purpose

For pants,I like Haglofs and Mountain hardwear

For innerwear,I can survive with Uniqlo’s heattech

Not too bad here in Dallas. I generally wear the uniform for those that work in the financial industry in the south....

I have other winter coats it's just the discussion seemed to be more about Parka's or Canada Goose. However the 3 Canada Goose Coats I have seem to serve my needs for the more casual winter coat.

I have the same kit. It's perfect if you have to be out in the really harsh weather.
For regular winter days I have lighter gear.

Reviving this thread since it’s cool for Texas tonight. Right before Thanksgiving I was heading to New York for a few days and it was going to be in the 30-40 range. The Canada Goose brand fascinated me, I like the way the rate their coats by temperature range. I wanted something that would be useable at home but warm enough for my brief forays into colder climes. Ended up with the Lodge jacket without hood that’s rated for 30-50 degrees, works perfectly for that. Liked it so much a month later I picked up a Hybridge Lite vest. It’s incredibly warm for how thin it is and works well in our local 40-60 range.
There’s only two stores here that sell the brand, Nordstrom and Saint Bernard. Both of them run out on a regular basis, I was able to get the vest locally but had to order the coat from Neiman Marcus. They are both slim fit so keep that in mind.
In New York it seems like Canada Goose and TheNorthFace are the official winter uniform. You see lots of both and also sell out quickly.

I steer clear of Canada Goose, it's overpriced imo and not better than anything from less expensive alternatives. My wife likes hers, but will even admit that's more because it's trendy and expensive.

I live in Calgary too and agree that Canada Goose is overkill most of the time, especially if you’re travelling by car. I’ve had a Canada Goose jacket for about 10 years and can count on two hands how many times I’ve worn it. For efficiency; most of the time, I dress in layers.

For really cold Wx - My casual coat is a Canada Goose - my dressier coat which I usually wear more often is a cashmere Zegna - Elements. Love them both. Other than those I wear a Camel hair car overcoat.

For colder weather, I just wear wool thermals underneath and an Irish wool sweater over

I like my belstaff bomber jacket with shearling collar. Warm enough, but not too hot. Comfy and practical enough for daily wear.

I have Barbour and Belstaff waxed cotton jackets with quilted liners For warmth though, you can’t beat a real Navy pea coat. You can wear it with jeans and over a sport coat. Find an Army Navy store and look around.
