I vote yes. I have one and love how understated it is. I also love how the numerals add just enough character to keep the watch from being boring.

I went with an Black OP39, only thing I like about the Explorer is the hands and the easy link. It’s almost 1000$ more which I don’t think it’s worth it compared to OP. I didn’t like the 3,6,9 or the flat crown unlike the OP which has a raised crown that IMO looks a lot better. Either way get what you like. Also the OP has a lot more history behind it which the explorer gets credit for I don’t know why.

I my opinion, I wish that they had not embellished the indices with WG surround from 14270 forward but having said that the Explorer is the most classic and versatile of all Rolex watches. Its clean and elegant simplicity adapts to any situation. If you want only one Rolex to wear, this is the one.

I love my mk2. Have worn it almost every day since buying it 9 months ago and my joy and appreciation for it hasn't faded. I absolutely love this watch. It's as versatile as they say - dresses up and down like a chameleon - and the "slow release" pleasure you get from the stellar design is just fantastic.

1000% yes. It's my one-watch collection pick if I ever go down that route.

The 214270 is darn near perfect. I had a 36mm 114270 for quite some time, but in the end it just was too small for some occasions/attire. I now have the 39mm, and it is such a great watch. The 39mm size on the 214270 solves the size problem, plus the construction is rock solid now. Comfort, class, versatility, value— the 214270 has it all.

PS I have a Mk1, and don’t let anyone tell you this watch is a dog. At $1000-1500 less vs a Mk2, I think it’s certainly worth a look rather than going 100% blindly with the herd.

I think it’s one of the best looking watches Rolex makes, or has ever made !

Had one for a short while and IMO ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,too small for a wrist over 7”.

Durable, versatile, reliable, discreet.

It was my third Rolex. Had it been my first, it might have been my only Rolex.

If you have a Sub and a 42mm Polar, I’d go for a Datejust if I were you.

I do like the Exp 1 though. I’m just not sure that’s a good mix of watches.

I have a 114270 & this year got a 214270, the new one is a bit heavier but as comfortable.

It’s huge. There’s too much dial in there.
