That she does, Martin, to be sure. However, the upgrade example is an extension of an earlier principle I adopted that states, "Yes, one can confront; however, it wouls still be better to confuse, if one cannot first convince". Works every time on the missus.

Geez, that's exactly the same tactic my husband uses on me. With great success.

Exactly...I will not enter a mall under any circumstances if I can avoid it. I much prefer shops on the street, or an open-air pedestrian shopping area. Something about being cloistered in the frenzied retail citadel that makes people crazy.

And the food court...why? Why would anyone go to the food court? It's like going to the beach, and then complaining about wind, sun, and sand.

I was at the health food store last week and had just parked the car and was walking to the other side to get the baby out of her seat. It was bitterly cold, windy, and raining. As I was undoing her straps, a car honked at me. An old guy waiting to park rolled his window down and said, "you need to move your car. You're too close to the line." He didn't seem to realize the slots were quite narrow, nor that the SUV on the other side of me was over the line and I had no choice but to move over a bit. I cheerfully obliged, though part of me was a little annoyed that he didn't just park anyway - there no other cars in the adjacent slots, and he could have easily used one of those. I had to squeeze out of my seat to avoid dinging the car parked next to me.

I did my shopping and met up with him again at the checkout line. I commented that it was good to be stocking up a little since the weather was getting bad. He looked at me vaguely and said it was a nice day. He couldn't seem to understand the clerk when she asked him to show his drivers license. He told her some of the items he'd just placed on the counter were someone else's and wanted her to put them back.

So what's the point of this story? The person giving you problems just may have bigger problems of their own.

An excellent reminder that it's too easy to judge another person's circumstances. Each of us is fighting a particular battle of our own.

I think people are getting angrier as everyone is in such a RUSH, where are they rushing to??? Probably no where - its a ME, ME, ME society we live in. Everyone feels that they "deserve" something, whether its a raise at work, to be first in line or to not have to stop at stop signs because they were there a split second before you even though they don't have the right of way.

It's sad that society has come to what it has come to..... There is very little respect or class!! Everyone thinks that class is something you attend!!!

Being part of a community like TRF is so pleasurable to exchange messages with people from all over the world, it allows all of us to connect and build friendships. From what I have seen the population here at TRF (sounds like im talking about a prison) has class and respect.

Regards,

-Frankie

I am guilty of it too I will admit!

Recently I have shifted my thinking and have been trying to see things from a different point of view to not get like that and its worked rather well for me so far.

I can now see all of the idiots clearly now!! Kinda like being the only sober one at a party....................

Another husband who has delusions that they are in control of their relationship
Having been married for 22 years I have learned the art of a successful marriage.
Use confrontation at your peril, be aware of reprisals over the following weeks, and yearly reminders.
Agree, but don't over do it, otherwise this will lead to confrontation.
Don't try and convince any woman of anything she does not want to believe unless you have the patience of Job.
Ensure praise, enough not to raise alerts, this will keep you in credit with the mistakes you have made.
Maybe this adds up to confusion, if so I am in a permanent state.

Pfft - you've just been whupped, boy!

Most of the time my efforts to convince only confuse, so it all works out in my favour anyway.

I have the occasional penchant for starting to dig once I hit rock bottom.

Maybe your wife would do well to borrow that shovel you're digging with and bop you upside the head with it!

Considering the circumstances, that's not possible (see above)...
