An historically important Oysterquartz piece is up for auction at Antiquorum. If you love OQ and have heaps of cash this is the one to get !!
https://catalog.antiquorum.swiss/en/...q=oysterquartz est. 150,000 - 250,000 USD Last edited by chocopeluche; 27 June 2020 at 06:31 PM.. Reason: adding price estimate for future posterity |

I come to this thread with a question.
Would you rather get a NOS 17000, or used but minty 19018? The situation is presently this for me, and I am wondering what would be best. On one hand, I have a 17013 which confirmed my love of fluted bezels and gold, whereas the 17000 is NOS and have quite a nice look. Price isn’t the same nor really a concern, but it can only be one. |

I think the NOS 17000 as they seem to be harder to find nowadays. I also think 17000 is the most iconic OQ. 19018 would be a good pic if it had a cool dial. Do u have pics ?

Don’t have pics as this is from a small shop nearby. But basically the 17000 is legit and has the traditional stick silver dial, with COSC mention.
The 19018 is also the usual one, champagne stick in English. There’s also a 19019 on Chrono24, more expensive though. I think if they were all NOS, at the same price, I would go with the 19019 no question. But states and prices are a factor, and I am unsure what to do. It also didn’t help that despite our interest for quartz, those aren’t the best value keepers. |

17000 NOS or 19019 will be the best value retention. Full set unworn would be investment grade and those will fetch the highest multiples. From the digging Ive done 19018 w/ champagne isn’t that rare, but are a steal if you want an awesome looking gold watch. I also contacted RSC dallas, they still have loads of exotic service dials for the 19018 if you want to customize. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Beautiful watches. Love the simplicity and dimensions.
I think quartz movements get overlooked. |

I find that hard to believe and unlikely. Making a new Integrated Circuit (IC) is not that hard, look at the retro gaming scene. Enthusiasts are making replica consoles that match the originals 'gate for gate'. That means all the circuitry including all the quirks of the original is 100% the same. Hardly a stretch for someone todo that for the IC in the OQs which is several orders of magnitude simpler. Also, how is "rolex running out of parts" any different than them running out of parts for all the watches they no longer service ?? I think the old-gaurd will move on and their inherent dislike of all things quartz will go along with it. |

Why do you ask? Do you want a day or not? Gold or not? What works best within your collection since you only want one? NOS doesn’t make or break this decision for me personally. I would go with the one I like better. Who doesn’t love a daydate?

Anyone know off the top what the largest diameter was for the dial on any oyster quartz made?

Another interesting OQ up for auction ...
https://www.christies.com/lotfinder/...jectid=6269001 ..."written information from its original owner regarding his participation at the “Everest Comex” scientific experiment in 1997, photocopies of the relevant attestation, the invitations to the press conferences, a “Le Monde” article of 2 April 1997 detailing the experiment and an article covering “The Rolex Oysterquartz of Reinhold Messner”... |

for me, this 2-piece would pretty much do it for me:
sources - https://watch-fever.blogspot.com/201...-date-ref.html sources - https://watch-fever.blogspot.com/201...hite-gold.html sources - https://watch-fever.blogspot.com/201...olex-fans.html also, someone on this forum has a super fire 19019N w/ blue jubilee/computer. Forgot which thread I snagged this from: |

Wow, just wow. Stunning pieces, especially love the Japanese (?) day disc. When I first saw it I knew I wanted a computer/circuit board dial Rolex and I think this is the perfect model to have it with. I get lost in that dial whenever I wear this piece.

So, I went and tried a 17000 and a 19018.
I thought I would like the 17000, but it felt quite cheap. I wish I could like it, but actually, the other OQ references are much more interesting I think. The 19018 is quite nice, and I might be able to have one serviced by Rolex a few months ago (peace of mind thank you very much), sharp edges. Only downside is missing links (only 3 instead of 5). Might compliment my 17013 nicely, and seeing how I am unable to find a good 16710 model... |

That pyramid with the computer dial in YG looks great! Nice piece my friend, enjoy.
