My own personal troll. This makes it consistent. Now I know I’ve made an impact.

And you have zero idea what I’ve done and am doing in my own life. I’d compare stats and accomplishments with you any day. And you sure have an ax to grind...it’s funny. Sad, but funny.

Hey guys, I’ll share my story. I’m a lifelong soccer fan and it was a dream to go to a World Cup. I made the commitment to go to Russia in the summer of 2018 but I wanted to be as healthy as possible. I went to the doctor to get my physical and he said he had good news and bad news. Good news that I was generally healthy, I didn’t have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, nor pre-diabetes. Bad news that I wasn’t getting any younger and at that time next year we might’ve been talking about medication for high blood pressure or high cholesterol. He said I was young and healthy enough to do something about it right then and there, no surgery or meds. I made a whole hearted decision to change my life completely with no fad diet or extreme measures, just smart eating and old fashioned exercise. I lost 108 pounds in 10 months and the rest was history.

Thanks guys, with the shutdown and the gym closing it was not an ideal scenario and I put on about 10 lbs in 3 months but I put a stop to it with increasing the cardio running and on track to lose it.

As mentioned this will always be a work in progress because it’s very easy to get lax and gain it all back. I’ve read the horror stories online. I’ve worked too hard and overcame many obstacles in the process to throw it all away.

P.S. I bought the shirt!

you "MUST" keep at it as you have so much invested in your new life.. 10LBS is a pretty big thing and you better get after it..:) I myself had not put on one single OZ however I really worked at it while on "The Emerald Island" for almost 8 months..

I am an avid hiker in the mountains here in San Diego, normally heading there every weekend. Last time out I did 15 miles in one day and my goal is 20. Well, there’s a pretty severe heat-wave going on and the temps are in the 90s, no need to subject myself to heat stroke. Normally, when I don’t hike I head to the gym, I like running on the treadmill and weight training. Well, the gyms here in CA are closed (again). So... Yesterday decided to go for one of my long walks. My goal was 21 miles but it was pretty hot, I only did 17. I am a little disappointed in myself but then again, 17 miles is still a pretty good walk for someone closer to 60 then 50.

I've maintained a healthy (for me) body weight since I stopped growing back in high school. I'm 6'2" and weigh 172 lbs give or take a pound or two either way. I rarely fluctuate beyond that.

IMHO, what's more important is your body image (and how YOU interpret your appearance) and your overall health. I know alot of gym rats that look ripped but their cardio sucks. I also know alot of guys who love their beer league hockey, have great cardio, (yes much better than most), but they carry alot of extra weight. We joke instead of 6 packs they have 12 packs ...

IMHO and this is NOT directed specifically at you OP, you do not have to do extreme types of excercise to lose weight and stay in shape.

Most weight loss/gain is directly attributed to what you're putting in your body. "Abs are made in the kitchen". Sure excercise helps and obviously it's a healthy choice.

I eat pretty much the same food every day. My belief is that your body becomes accustomed to processing foods easier, if it knows what to expect ... (ala you feed a dog the same every day ). This may be way off base, or not, but I believe its helped me to maintain a healthy weight my entire life. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE food (pastas steak, wine, martinis are just a few of my vices) and I do indulge from time to time, but I always go back to my food routine and what works for me.

Moderation is the key IMHO, whether it comes to excercise, food, drink, pretty much anything. YMMV.

I have not had to lose weight for 12 years now as not one single OZ has ever been put back on. You are talking to a former "PORKER" whom was fat, obese and over weight that has transformed from that to a 150lb lean jazz cycling machine that does some pretty serious extreme cardio for someone closing on on 70. I do many a rides wit guys 1/2 my age that I make look like fools..:)

You said you have "ALWAYS" been where I have NOT ALWAYS Been so thats a huge difference. What works for you would not work for me and what works PERFECTLY for me would not work for you. We all have and do "OUR THING" and this is my thing..:)

if you scroll through the thread you will see what I eat and I highly doubt anyone is more regimental about what is stuffed in my face then me. I am obsessed with every single thing that goes in my mouth every single day 365 days a year and at the end of the day I can account for every single thing that went in my jaws for that day and every day... There is no happy medium with this guy as I am either 110% in or I am not in ..plain and simple..

Thanks you’re making yourself perfectly clear.

Hopefully I’ve given anyone who is a bit intimidated by the extreme level of exercise you use, a different perspective on how to acheive a healthy approach to weight loss.

FWIW I have ALWAYS maintained a healthy body weight, but don’t assume that it comes easy.

That, my friend, you have made abundantly clear. In all aspects of your life.

I firmly believe we should each follow our gut [pun only intended if you thought it was funny] to determine what's best for ourselves.

Sorry was not getting snappy at you one bit but trying to stress what I do and yes you are correct that a person does not have to do what I do to lose weight at all. Please note that when I started this new life style 12 years ago I never ever said one word to anyone and one day when we were saying our goodbyes to our son heading off to IRAQ that I was thinking that I need to change the direction I am going in or I am headed for disaster. I never rode the bike or nothing and in about 4 months I had lost about 80 lbs of the 125 by just cutting the calorie intake in to 1/4 or less of what I was doing and my first month alone, i lost over 30 pounds and that fired me up thinking I can do this and the more I lost the more it inspired/fired me up to keep at it and thats what I did and have never looked back.. Mind you it is very difficult and to most people it is not with the effort and aggrivation to go through with it and to continue on for years on end..

So just before we returned to States in early June from Sri Lanka I participated in a Cycling Time Trial Race thats a flat out as fast as you can go for 25 miles. I finished 8th overall out of 92 registered riders and was 21 years older then the next youngest guy in his 40's.. The guy you see coming up behind me like a bat out of hell is Dennis from France and he is the national triathlon team coach for Sri Lanka and yes he won the event averaging close to 29MPH... I faired quite well for a guy 66+ years old that 12 years ago I would not have been able to set on that bike for a 1/2 mil..

You said you have "ALWAYS" been where I have NOT ALWAYS Been so thats a huge difference. What works for you would not work for me and what works PERFECTLY for me would not work for you. We all have and do "OUR THING" and this is my thing..:)
Edited: My comment sounded a bit harsh. Keep it up OP..

Those numbers are impressive at ANY age. I did a 16.9 mph average on a very hilly century ride about 10 years ago. But only because the group I rode with were relentless and way above my abilities alone.
