Love the 16570. If I could have 1 more that would be it.

I put an Everest rubber strap on mine and it’s an even more under the radar travel watch

The more I read of people's experiences with the exp II the more I'm leaning in that direction. I know the sub is iconic, but I appreciate the more under-the-radar aspect of the exp II, along with the fact that everyone has a sub and I generally like to be different. Also the GMT function would be more useful to me than the rotating bezel and I don't dive either. I currently daily a DJ36 but it's over 40 years old and I don't exactly baby my watches so I would like to find something a little more practical to wear everyday.
The Exp II is my go-to watch for most everyday adventures. Bulletproof and plenty of capability.

I do wear a Sub or Sub Date too, but the Sub has become more of a "statement" watch rather than a practical choice for most activities.

16570s are still underrated but they are a damn near perfect watch. Every time I wear mine I’m reminded how much I love it. Have a feeling that piece will never leave my collection.

My brother always talks smack on it cause it’s not a fancy watch and is unassuming. That is why I love it so much! 7-8k watch that an untrained eye thinks is a seiko.

I love 5 digits as they fit my wrist better, especially the 16570 model. Here are mine.

Loved mine. But needed funds to put to today's pick-up so I moved it on a few months back.

How come the 16570 is not extremely popular?

My youngest son owns and wears for several years a 16570 black face which I gave to him years ago. Last months he was several times eyeballing on my EXII 226570. I asked him if he rather would have my mentioned watch. He decided to give the 16570 back to me and with a big smile on his face today he took and puts the 226570 on his wrist.
It gives me great pleasure to see him so happy.
Anyway I can wear the 5 digit again

The popularity of Rolex models can vary based on personal preferences and trends.

The explorer 2 has never been as popular as the 2 main sports models in the rolex catalogue - the submariner and the gmt. I think this is probably due to the aesthetics of the black or coloured bezel on those 2 versus the steel bezel on the exp 2.
Where the black or coloured bezel offers a nice contrast to the case, the steel-coloured bezel looks a bit clunky, and to many harkens back to some of the dorky watches of the late 80s and 90s. This also applies the general unpopularity of the yachtmaster.

They definitely have their fans though, and I would suggest it is one of the only neo-vintage rolex sports models priced appropriately in the used market.

Except for two guys riding on a moped in London.

Watch is so comfortable, I play tennis with it on.
This is my 2nd one, sold one about 6 moths ago and had sellers remorse, so I picked this up, hope to keep for a long time to come, but if I ever get a call for a Pepsi, off it goes!

That’s a great thing to do for your son; glad you’re both happy with the watches. Your new(old) Explorer looks fantastic.

once upon a time, 16570s could be had around low $4k, rising tides i suppose.
