Oddly enough I acquired my 2 grails. 116500 and 116718. I feel very lucky.
However, what I’ve always found in watch collecting is a new grail eventually appears. I think a platona tips my list these days. YG, WG, RG Daytona are all nice too, but the platona is a full step up from where I am today. Watches can make for a funny hobby Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There is some great inspiration in here. I love the varying tastes and preferences.
For me, there are two that come to mind. The first and most specific is Pepsi GMT Master II on Jubilee. I have a good line on a 116710LN that will fill that gap until I can add the Pepsi to the collection. I also have an odd affinity for luxury watches with a moonphase complication. I don' have a specific manufacturer or ref for that just yet. I only know I want one some day. Maybe one of the Omega Speedmaster variants? |

Agree! Just got what I thought was my grail, but I know it’s too early to stop. So now my grail is a birth year GMT 16750 or Sub 5513 with box and papers. Totally achievable, just need to time it with a significant point in my life when to get it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I get what you are asking.......
In my mind, a grail is not a realistic purchase.....nor is it a rational one... Patek 5270G-019 swapping out the blue leather strap for dark brown |

Right now today I’d consider the GMT meteor dial as my ultimate grail. Next week I might have a completely different answer.

Platinum Submariner
Hopefully i can look back at this post in a decade with a platinum Submariner on my wrist, Laughing to myself about the time I predicted the future. Honestly I've gotten to my "Grail" 3 or 4 times and times changes and feels change I change life changes and it's no longer a Grail. I thought a Smurf was my Grail before. Love love love it but not the end all be all. I thought owning a patek was my Grail. Nope. I thought owning an AP15202 ST was my Grail. Nope. White Daytona's ? Nope. But in-between almost every watch listed about and in my signature i almost ALWAYS get a Submariner. So to me honestly, I just want my Sub (whichever one it may be at the time....I thought it was a last batch 114060 from 2020 but then I got offered the first 126610 SubDate from my AD. Obviously purchased it. Took it home for a.week. Studied both intensely and decided on keep the 126610 for various reasons in the end. (Could only afford to keep one of them at the moment) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is the one for me at the moment, by Breguet. Retrograde seconds complication and winding rotor crafted of white gold are some of the things that made me decide on this piece. They say not to tell people your goals, or they don't come true. So I guess I'm making like Babe Ruth, pointing at the upper bleachers.
