No if you can read I stated that I amassed the knowledge of Rolex watches and the history of the brand over the past 50 years.

Except the nicknames arose because the reference numbers weren't specific enough.

16760 is a specific watch

16710 can be a coke or a pepsi

16718 can be root beer or black

I believe only with the 6 digit reference numbers were colors specified but I may be wrong there

Why need to remember numbers? Is black/blue GMT too hard to remember? How about blue Submariner, or even green Submariner? Or blue TT Sub, or 5 digit SubLV or...

I love it when this topic comes up and the usual suspects go bat-sh*t crazy over something

so innocuous and stupid...they just can't get past it...so entertaining!

Popping some more corn. I needed this today...thanks OP!

No. I'll just keep out of it and allow the ignorant to use their childish names. Starbucks now eh?

Just the thread for which I have been waiting.
I have been pondering this question for awhile.
I have a 16753. Black dial, gold nipples. Black bezel, gold markings. Is there a nickname for this watch? I can’t seem to find one. If indeed there is no nickname, I would like to propose the name Beverly Hillbilly (for those of you old enough to remember):-). I won’t comment on the Ellie May dial or the Batgirl (except mine is SS/Gold) bracelet. But I do think Beverly Hillbilly has a nice ring to it.
(Also, as an aside, has anybody mentioned the Clint Eastwood? I have read all of the posts in this thread, didn’t see it mentioned, but could have missed it).

Its your watch you can call it whatever you want, if Starbucks is the childish name you want to call your new Submariner 126610LV, go for it.

That's hilarious, Starbucks is green and white, the LV is green and black.

But hey, its your watch, you name it you see fit, I'll call it the Submariner LV or 126610 LV and avoid silly nicknames.

I agree with some of the posters here.

President is the best nickname.
Followed by the soda nicknames like pepsi, rootbeer, etc.

The rest, from cartoons or comics, are a bit cringy for me. I suppose it's a sign that the next generation are still into watches.
