I think the 6 series ceramic Subs are noticeably more blingy, shiny... than 5 series. The bezel itself is shinier. The 5 series no date is classic and more under the radar.

So the question becomes this - what can I do from here?
Totally understand where you are coming from. Stop wearing the DJ. You aren't feeling it and you are right about the aesthetics. The Sub seems like the better watch for you.

If you have the money, get the Sub without selling the DJ right away. Keep the DJ, its box and papers, for a while. I don't think you will lose much money if you sell it a year or two or three from now. You might even make money.

I am not saying the DJ is an investment. I am saying don't sell or flip or exchange or trade a gift from the wife so soon if you don't have to. Just hold it for a while for the sake of it. Even if it sits on a shelf. It's basically like cash in the bank anyway. In a year or two or three you can sell it if you still want to.

Wearing a sub is like wearing a billboard with a giant Rolex sign on your front and back.

If you really want a Sub, then just get a sub. But don’t try to lie to yourself about a steel DJ being flash; it isn’t.

It's a milestone/special celebration watch. Keep it, you'll learn to love, appreciate, and it'll always be a reminder of the "moment". I would never sell anything that has emotional value.

Money doesn't seem to be an issue, so get a Sub when you can. Nothing wrong with owning both a casual and a dress watch.
