Well maybe this thread has given Rolex some food for thought, and believe me if the watch was a little slimmer there would be no need to infer it, no, Rolex would be announcing this achievement from the rooftops!

I wouldn't mind having an 8% larger date window, but no thanks on the chamfered crystal. My SD from the 90's had a chamfered crystal and it was chipped all the way around by the time I sold it. Much prefer the crystal on my 126660.

That makes it a 4 years production run for the 126660, owners will be pleased.
I really like this new date window. |

Why weren't all these changes rolled out with the 12x?
Strange to make these minor changes after just a 4 yr run for the 12x. Especially with a relatively low-volume model. Was hoping for something more significant, like a titanium DSSD. Would be lighter, and with a stronger case material, could perhaps be smaller/thinner. |

My prediction... It's all about "RLX titanium" and anticipating their first all "RLX titanium" watch release in the years ahead

I don’t get titanium. Had a full titanium watch years ago and the material is just dull grey that have weird thermal conductivity, feels too light and basically doesn’t sparks joy in my heart like good old steel.

Someone on this forum in a post today about this release, made the comment that titanium would not be able to withstand the depth that the DSSD is capable of, 3900m. Whether or not true I do not know but if so, this would preclude the DSSD from being made with this material.

I agree. This is why I can't get into Grand Seiko with their titanium bracelets. Feels too light. Like to have some weight to my watches

I enjoyed wearing my previous Omega Seamaster Ti (blue dial) on bracelet, and X-33 (2nd gen). And I also like the thermal properties--Ti tends to not feel as cold. |

The new Omega Ultra Deep has a depth rating of 6,000m/20,000ft, and a Ti version. Hublot had the Oceangraphic 4000m dive watch, and it was made in Ti and carbon fiber versions. |

If you download the 'official' user guide, the fliplock is still mentioned.
But I just noted asterisk ... 'only available onsome models.' |

This!
I also understand that the new DSSD JC has a larger date aperture and larger date font. Not sure I'll be able to confirm that until I see one in person.

As it stands, only the no-date Sub is the only Rolex divers watch that's compliant. Not that there's anything wrong with that but it's a totally lost opportunity for a timely and relevant update. Maybe the date window has lume?? |

The watch was designed and packaged according to the critical design brief of being wearable. It may be reasonable to assume they started from that position and arrived at the current thickness and depth rating. Anything else will be a complete and utter retrograde step given the recent release by Omega. |

As an avid diver in both technical and recreational environments, the only times I've seen a Rolex below the surface are in very recreational/tropical conditions where the bracelet is next to skin. (translation: by divers with money to burn on very not serious dives and in perfect conditions). Soooo many better and safer dive options than Rolex sport watches out there. Shearwater's Perdix or Teric's for example. |

Yes correct on Omega being titanium and good point. I stand corrected and I would love to see the DSSD in titanium. It would be significantly more comfortable and a bit toned down in terms of bling. I would have to keep my 126660 too though because I cannot get rid of it)
Also, I might be one of the few who has actually used the dive extension on one of the rare times I wore a watch with a SS bracelet while surfing. DSSD over a 5mm glove then the wetsuit over the watch and glove. This new model seems like a downgrade to me. |

There was a tool specifically included with the Sea-Dweller for removing the divers extention which some people historically removed for a more comfortable fit. It could be argued that it's sort of redundant with the DSSD glidelock in place |

With regards to the fliplock extension, I use it nearly every week. I help out with my sons soccer team and I'm also one of the officiating linesmen. It's normally cold so I wear gloves/jackets etc and always wear my watch over my glove to keep track of game time.
I sometimes wear my Tudor Pelagos too which also has a dive extension. Note that I've never been diving in my life but would very much like to try it one day. |

I use the extension everytime I dive. It really is handy without having to put a strap extender on like a cpl of my other dive watches.
