I’m not good with numbers so I kind of like “The Beverly Hillbilly” to refer to the 16753 in black/gold. Throw in “with the Ellie May dial” and you’ve got the perfect description of the watch ….. without having to memorize all of those numbers.

At the end of the day I'm fine with the nicknames in general and thus, fine with "Bluesy". Some nicknames are much more cringe than others, but it really does make a quick and easy way to differentiate model types.
The only one I HATE is "Root beer" because every time I read it, hear it, think it, or look at my Root beer, I absolutely CRAVEEEE a root beer float!!

”The Swede” is what it should have been called since it has Sweden’s colors.

Love them or hate them, you know what watch the nickname refers. As for the reference numbers, most of us would have to look them up to correctly recite. Automobiles nicknames appear as model name badging. Only service departments are concerned with chassis numbers.

One of the few I actually like. Kind of a paradox cause it’s a bright and vibrant watch. Love it actually….. much more than a lot of other names people toss around

Bluesy works, it suits the watch. If you have a better nickname, feel free to share. TT blue Sub is not a nickname. The true question is: should we use nicknames at all? I think so, adds familiarity to the hobby.

I love the watch, but dislike the nickname. I try to avoid using it.
Furthermore, the nickname refers to the two-tones, the PM, 5 digits, 11, 12 series... At least the reference number is unambiguous. Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk |

Never liked bluesy. It's a punt. Like "thin frame dial." Kermit, smurf, pepsi all work.

Anyone hate the term/name "Bluesy"?
Hate is a strong term. I do sometimes use the names we understand here rather than 11613/116613LB ref. #
But not around the folks at ADs - so I forego it for the most part. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I really don't understand why all the HATE towards nicknames, yes some of them are a bit cheesy, but going as far that you hate them all is a bit excessive.
To be honest bluesy which it sounds good, is not particularly creative as a nickname. Out of the nick names, the one I like the most are: Submariner Bart Simpson (ref 5513) Submariner Kermit (ref 16610LV) Submariner Hulk (ref. 116610LV) GMT occhio di tigre or Tiger's eye (ref 16753) GMT Batman (ref 116710BLNR) Submariner Smurf (ref.116619LB) Daytona Playtona, yes is cheesy and obnoxious but the watch is also (ref 116506) Il like those names because they refer to a specific model / dial Pepsi is a nice nick name, but it did not stick to a specific model, and is basically the same as saying Rolex with blue and red bezel. herese my two cents anyway |

I saw a guy with a Rolex and he had a 12 inch Tattoo that said "BLUESY" pointing to his watch.
His girlfriend had a equally long tattoo that said, "I'm with Limpdick" |

Panda drives me nuts. The IWC 371411 is the only watch IMO that deserves that nickname. "Bluesy" also leave me with a little vomit taste in the back of my throat. I do like Smurf, Starbucks and Hulk nicknames (although I hate the Hulk variation of the Sub). Cookie Monster may be the worst of all nicknames though. I general when people throw these names around like they are "insiders" with a special knowledge of all things Rolex it makes me cringe a bit. Prefer reference numbers or simple descriptions like Blue Sky D or Black Sub/date. Or 116500LN. Reverse Panda Daytona? Are you shitting me?
