Well, i did make a decision and wanted to thank you all for your input. I purchased this 2020 M4 with very low miles (can't wrap my head around the new front ends just yet). It is the very special and rare color of British Racing Green with a full PPF wrap in matte olive-ish. I LOOOOOOVE the custom leather interior as well. I'm sure this will be a painful decision at the shop when warranty runs out but it is a second vehicle so no biggie

That’s killer, enjoy getting there in style…but that looks like you went over budget lol
BMW has almost perfected these builds. New rear tires and oil every 10k miles and you’re good for quite a while I’d bet. Great buy! |

Sweet!
I sold my 2020 (or 2021, who can remember?) earlier this year because, well, I flip cars frequently and I had just bought my Alpina B7 and I could (and did) sell the M4 for more than I paid for it, taxes, tags, everything. I got to drive it for free! It was - and is - an awesome car, and you made an excellent choice, congrats!

Owned both. BMW has high long term maintenance costs. My Lexus Is 6 years old and still running on minimal maintenance costs, good mileage and no issues *knock on wood*

Interesting to see how many that has had problems with their BMW:s. What are you guys doing with your cars?? ;) Im on my third BMW (consecutive) and drove them maybe 3 years each. Never had a problem with any of them. Pure luck perhaps?
I now drive the X3 (last gen, f25 LCI). Best car I have ever had. Comfy, sporty, good material quality, good at towing and really good 4wd (i think). I´m "always" looking into the prospect of buying a new car but it seems like the worst time to buy a new car. When did we last see this level of innovation and new players? Maybe I´m wrong but I see a huge risk of buying a car that may be obsolete in a couple of years because of new standards etc. |

Me too. Brakes on my 06 325ci at the time were $800. For brakes! Right now I have an 8yo GX460 with 129k or so on it. Only issue thusfar is a known one and that’s the replacement of the valley plate seal. Done around 102k. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Key words here are “drove them maybe 3yrs each”. You probably aren’t going to have issues in that short time. You shouldn’t. The issue is when it ages. The plastics under the hood get brittle (because hot v’s really are stupid), vanos craps out, and on and on….. They are awesome while under warranty. A nightmare when not. Same for most Euro rides. I try to stick to this policy: Buy Japanese Lease Euro (or buy with extended warranty and sell the day before it runs out) Buy American trucks but steer clear of the rest. beautiful car, I just switched from a BMW into a Mercedes. My local dealerships made ownership absoutely terrible. After countless (small) but annoying warranty claims the car started throwing itself in park at slow speeds. The biggest issue is out of 23 shop repairs I had 0 loaner availability.

BMWs being unreliable is sort of overrated now days, aside from long term issues with their V8s their inline 4 and 6 cylinder engines are very reliable.

Owned both. The steering on the current X5’s is disappointing and lackluster for some reason. I almost leased an X5 recently and would’ve traded my 2020 RXF sport in but decided against it.
My prior BMW’s were fine until they reached the warranty cutoff and then bad things started happening quickly. Too many plastics under the hood for bmw and planned obsolescence is keeping me with Lexus for now. Leasing would be the only way I’d get back into bmw but that in itself is a red flag and costly way to have some fun. |

You made the right choice. Always wanted to love a Lexus, but could never get past the "like" part.
With a BMW - find a good local independent shop that specializes in BMWs and you'll save major $.

BMW has the way better look on the outside, but Lexus is way more reliable & holds its value.
