No way, VCO is much better compared to Daytona. Unless if your wrist is below 15 cm I’d not swap it.

Have you tried the Daytona? My AD had one in the middle of the hype. Tried it on, felt like a tinker toy. A small one at that. Passed. I'll keep my VCO.

If the Daytona was PM, maybe...

i have a 116500 and the blue dual time VC. You can clearly see the quality difference. However, i really think it comes down to your situation. If you are a 1 watch guy and wear yours daily, just keep the one you like. If you have a collection with other watches you like and wear, i would keep the vc. also, it depends on if you like the vc. if you dont like it at all then the decision is simple. but if you like both, then i dont think it makes sense to do that trade despite how much you want to have that daytona.

So much this. I am so baffled at the hype vs actual quality ratio the Panda Daytona has. It was not impressive to me at all.

This is why I actually love it. It is a good change up, very refined piece.

VC Overseas gained in popularity over the last 2 years, while prices were going nuts. Before that, only watch purists were buying these......they were easily available prior to the so-called "Pandemic". SS Daytonas have not been easily available for 30 years.

Damn, just spit out my coffee!
No freaking way in the world would I ever, EVER do that trade. That VC4500V is awesome. And in blue? Would never happen in a million years!

100% - my friend has one, my secondary ad has one, and my main ad has a used one. Love it, to me pure class.

I would not. But in term of pricing both are coming down and I believe Daytona will be worth slightly less than VC. In term of tradability or ease to sell Daytona wins hands down.

I wouldn’t do it. I had those exact two, now have the 12LV and BLNR + jubilee. Thinking of adding the 124060 back. I actually have been on the waiting list in the past for the 4500V and they called me. I didn’t pull the trigger, I think I only liked it because it is one of the 3 trinity watches, but I just love the look of Rolex and the ceramic bezels more.

The Trinity aspect is appealing to me as I want to eventually complete sports model set (AP down 2 more to go )… the versatility of the interchangeable straps is a big benefit as well.

50/50 for me right now…

If you are going for the trinity, no brainer, yes go for it. I honestly think you can get one at retail. I only waited like 3 months before getting the call.

Been on the “list” since July 2021… built a good relationship with the SA and new boutique manager. They’re aiming for May 2023 to commemorate a milestone bday… we will see.

This. I did this the other way around, OP.

The white dial of the steel Daytona looks like a melamine dinner plate with black painted subdial rings. It isn't that nice. If you have attention to detail I'd stick to VC ALS or a PM Daytona which have nicer dials.

I have both and much prefer the VCO. I have always loved the Daytona, but the hype has gotten out of control. The VCO is pure class, part of the trinity, and being able to switch the bracelet on a whim puts it over the top. Basically three watches in one depending on the occasion.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Hutch, I've held on to the VC for now. For some reason I just don't enjoy the VC as much as I did when I initially purchased it. A good friend has the white dial Daytona & I love it.

For reference my "main collection" consists of the VC, a PAM Carbotech 1661, & a BLNR. I also have a UN enamel dial Classico & Hodinkee LE Slim d'Hermes, neither of which has been worn since before the pandemic. I've thought about selling the UN & Hermes & replacing them with a Cartier Santos; either the gray dial or the Dumont (in addition to swapping the VC for the Daytona).

I'm curious to know why several ppl think the Daytona's value will drop further?

I mean it will dip then go up, just like the market. With all those greats, can you not get one at an AD?

I'm about to buy a 49150 black dial for 7k. Do the trade. If value is a major concern, the VC will never hold up to any Daytona.

If you are buying all those watches gray, I wouldn’t worry about the dips and peaks. Get what you want, it will all even out in the end. As long as you are not worried about the funds, get what you like.
