Dan, another great KY GTG with great folks.
Thanks for all the work behind the scene and Charlie Cleves for the hospitality. This GTG has worked out very well for me. I've dropped off my wife and daughter at Newport Aquarium before the GTG and picked them up after the GTG for shopping at Trader Joe's (I'm posting this message in the parking lot of Trader Joe's) and will stop by at our friend's house in Florence on the way back to Crestwood. Got to see the Marathon SAR in person and tried it on to make sure that it's not too big for my wrist. I'll be placing order for SAR on Monday (it's a great looking tool watch).

Thanks to Dan Pierce for organizing this GTG and to Charlie Cleves for picking up the tab for lunch. A great outing.

Welcome aboard, Gary. I told you the water was warm.
What a great time made possible by everyone who traveled and took time out of their schedules to participate. Many thanks to Charlie Cleves and everyone at Cleves & Lonnemann [a name I constantly misspell] Jewelers for their hospitality [coffee, lunch]. Also, no suprise of the TRF generosity exhibited by John [PhPuser] and Todd [therolexguy] for bringing Spirit and Silletto mags. Then Greg [mosco] shows up with a very cool Orbita travel case to donate to the proceedings.................... [that mysteriously ended up in my possession.......... .thanks again, guys! Great to meet Mike [finally!!!] and see his stunning collection and checkout that amazing Omega Polprof [spelling??], what a hoot! Great to see old friends from an earlier GTG, Joji, Mike, and Steve. Thrilled that Greg got to join us at the last minute, we enjoyed his eclectic and exotic examples, plus a couple of Red Stripes, mon! Todd brought a Bond, a real Bond, sporting an 18mm authentic Bond strap. Not to mention a wealth of reference material. Mark [theken] came away the proud new owner of a couple new [no, old] pieces, congrats. Tim [brit78] was a late comer but made up for it with his very cool Panny. Ed, nice to match a face with the voice. Keeneland, brother!! Y'all made this GTG a great success and a blast, so thanks. Ok, here's the pics........but a disclaimer: sorry no multi watch wrist shots, no TRF group shots, I guess we were really into the watches. But there's one nato shot to piss off JJ!!!! dP

Dan, I had a GREAT time. Was well worth the drive and the guys were all great. Thanks to Dan for setting this up and anytime I'm in the market for a vintage piece or need one fixed, I'm going to Charlie. What unbelievable hospitality. Totally unexpected. Thanks.

What a great time!!
Dan, I can't tell you what an honor it was to meet you and all the guys at the GTG. What a great bunch of guys with an amazing collection of watches. A special thanks to Charlie and his staff for opening up his shop and making us feel so at home (not to mention picking up lunch). All you guys just re-enforce what a great bunch of people we have on TRF and what a great hobby this is. The watches, the stories, the friendship, it just doesn't get any better. Thank you so much for the Paul Newman photo...uh, my wife won't give it back. If fact she asked if I got any wallet size. |

Thanks Dan, Mike and Charlie for everything you did to make this GTG a fun afternoon. This is a great group for a new guy like me to learn from and get expert answers to all of my many questions about vintage Rolex.
Count me in for the next GTG which I hope will be in the not so distant future. It was fantastic to meet all of you. Best regards to everyone who attended. Mark |
