Pics are clearly taken at a slight angle making the date disc appear out of line with the opening.
This is a non thread - not so much lazy QC more like lazy OP

My 2020 Explorer II is perfectly centered. I have seen many that are not. I don't know exactly why.

Here is another one for you. I even put these arrows in to make it super duper easy for you. By the way, before calling someone lazy, maybe try doing this weird thing called reading. No one is talking about the date disk/aperture being high in the cyclops under a certain angle. We are referring to the date sitting high within the date wheel itself (hence the title of the thread). Notice the amount of white that is in the date wheel under the 6 vs in top of it. That’s not an illusion, it is poor QC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This thread would have been better if called, “Rising Trend…”.

I think his concern is valid. Not sure why there are so many doubters in this thread. |

the sensor plane was not on the same plane as the date wheel
Distortion will occur, especially behind the cyclops It's pretty evident by looking at the rehaut at 12:00 and 6:00 that these pics were not shot directly but at an angle. Sloppy photography explains these pics |

The angle of the photo taken of the watch has nothing to do with how high the date is sitting in the actual date wheel itself. I am NOT talking about how high the date is in the cyclops of course. Of course there is distortion when it comes to that. You are literally proving my point for me. I posted pictures of 4 of my other Rolex's all at the same angle and guess what, the only one that had a high date in the date wheel was the day date. I posted a photo of the date under the cyclops to rule out potential distortion and guess what? On the DD40 the date was significantly higher in the date wheel than my other watches. You can make the argument like what Padi is making saying when the dial is put on there is the potential for movement in on direction or another ( which he is correct ), but what him and I disagree on is this is an indicator of poor QC. To suggest after the 20 or so photos i've posted that this is just an illusion due to the angle is completely delusional. |

I agree with you---your date window does look to be slightly higher than it should, and I don't think the cyclops lens has anything to do with this. It's fairly clear to see there is just simply more date window 'white' underneath the number than above it. My DJ 36 does not have this issue, but if it did, it would drive in insane as well.

Go No Date!
You could always buy a watch without a date complication!
It's almost always cheaper. Your phone will tell you the date just fine. It's one less thing to break and/or go wrong. (Don't change the date between 10 and 2!) Your phone also tells you the date. It's one less thing to complain about not being 100% perfectly vertically horizontally universally magnetically asymptotically hydro-pneumatically aligned. Most phones have a calendar function with dates. It doen't destroy the symmetry of the watch dial by obliterating the 3 o'clock index. I can always reliably determine the date with my phone. It doesn't grow a wart. By the way, did I mention that phones are a reliable source of information for the date? Frank |
