Played with the rose gold minute repeater today with smoked sapphire glass. Freaking awesome watch. The smoke dial is badass for sure.

Except the popularity between these two, not feel much different in terms of aesthetic or wearable

I think they are both great. The Patek is thinner and probably more secure against deprecation long term.

I agree. This really really blew my mind. Smoked glass, ceramic mid case, and the repeater is soooo good.

I got to try it on in aspen as well. Incredible watch! $400k but whatever!
I think if I were to do a really special complicated big $ watch I’d do a code.

I still think that they have no soul or AP heritage. Zero reasons to buy one.

Soul is very subjective, so I won't argue against this point.

But I'm very happy that they didn't include too much of the Millenary heritage into this for example...

To me, the Code is a quite unique and contemporary blank canvas of a case, that can be used from small PM 38mm 3-handers all the way to the wonders of the RD4.

It just took them a while to figure out that the canvas, particularly in the 41mm version, is a bit too empty without something more going on on the dial, like the printed guillochage pattern they now use.

I would love to see them do a version of the double balance in the style of the Code Openwork Tourbillion Skeleton.

Something in the price range of the RO double balance.

There's actually a lot of soul and heritage in the code 11.59. The hands and numerals off of the first and second generations that people hated so much were taken from vintage references. AP from really the 1950s onwards has always pushed high-end industrial design and cemented that path with Genta in the 70s. The CODE represents a modern commitment to that design philosophy, we're the company that makes beautiful industrial watches. You won't find that at patek, VC, lange etc.

I feel like I should be getting a split seconds complication at 300k, but still very nice watch.

CODES are so much better in person than photos ever show - hope to purchase a variation one day

Agreed. In fact, I found them to be attractive but not remarkable until I had them on my wrist. There are so many fine details at every angle.

Not often you can refer to fine watches as architectural, but the Code certainly is.

I first toured the AP factory and museum around 2010. The Starwheel knocked me out. I asked if a larger one would ever be released, and they said not likely. And then....bam.
The current Starwheel is a stunner and #1 on my list.

The CODE has to be seen and tried on in person for it to be fully appreciated. That being said, one has to be comfortable with the depreciation and resale value if purchasing one new from AD. Resale value aside, I think it's a great piece with a future.

Again today positive reactions towards the code from a “reputable” influencer. The last time I have the feeling that perception towards the Code on socials and in magazines is shifting.

And rightfully so, I think!

People had/ have a problem with the stupid name and duals upon release. If you switch the dial like this beautiful enamel then it can be a great watch. The PC aventurine code was always cool

Code will be eventually dead just like the Millenary/Jules. Doomed to be traded for cents on the dollar.

Do your CODE 11.59 put options expire next Friday?

I have never seen a mountain scape carved into the side of a code before. Is this custom or a model I missed seeing?

Very cool.

I know I should admire the work of the artisans here, but to me this and most of PP's rare handcraft are just expensive kitsch. Just needs Heidi frolicking somewhere in the background. Maybe I missed the joke.

Codes have a lot of potential. Need to reduce the skews and make things more interesting with the dials.

There is not much potential on the code. The case is cool but wears too large. The watch is all dial so it will always wear bigger and thicker than its dimensions suggest. It’s the opposite of being ergonomic. It’s supposed to be a dress watch yet has no dress watch properties. Neither does it have a sports watch properties. It’s in no mans land with no clear identity. Dare i say the Millenary at least had some identity.

And yes, i do own one myself.
