Yeh about that subtlety…… https://www.ablogtowatch.com/hands-o...ond-set-watch/ Rolex is a hype machine and instagram wet dream full of macho watches that lacks subtlety…. Granted rolex has some subtle watches like the explorer 1 but so does omega in its constellation, de ville and heritage lines You are correct about the god awful bracelet on the seamaster though |

Rolex is just better that's it. It's really that simple every part is just better from fit and finish to wearing comfort. To look to materials used. If I was to make any comment and that is Omega is over priced when competing against the likes of Tudor Tag Breitling.

Navitimer is £7750 Monaco is £7000 (on a leather bracelet) 300m is £5600 Superocean is £4500 Aqua racer is £3300 Aqua terra is £5700 Chronomat is £4700 Carrera is £2900 I think Omega is priced where it should be in comparison to the other brands…..and superior to all three brands you mention (all 3 are overpriced…..but then so is rolex…..£9000 for a sub, £3400 more than a seamaster?!) |

I have always been a fan of Omega, however when I had compared the rubber they used to the Oysterflex, I couldn't believe how Omega's rubber was so cheap and poorly made.

Thank you, I am sincerely interested! Did Omega do the first chiming watch? Those are very cool, I’ve seen a video about the JLC one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I absolutely love my Speedmaster. Although I find it annoying to set the date via a button. Would rather not have the date. Too small anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

No, obviously didnt make the first one, they just made some cool itterations, if you look into the movement technology of the ones they launched last year, theres quite a lot of innovation going on…..

They're both great. Ultimately, it comes down to what "moves" your emotions more. Whatever it is, wear it. Life's short.

Is Rolex THAT much better than Omega?
Like I said above, I’m a huge fan of both Rolex and Omega, but I think the METAS certified movements are a little over-rated.
My most accurate watch is my Submariner 114060 with the 3130 movement. It’s more accurate than my METAS certified Seamaster. YMMV. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Cost is no excuse for poor quality when it comes to luxury brands. The fact that Omega would let a cheap rubber band like that hit the market, screams inemptitude.

For nearly everyone non WIS, including me 20 years ago, Rolex is the gold standard, top of the heap, king of the hill luxury watch, and whenever I am comparing something else that is the best in its field, I just say this is the Rolex of whatever it is cars/cigars/wines etc and the person gets its the best, if I were to say Patek or AP or RM they would have no clue what I'm on about, and saying Omega or Breitling would not engender that same supremacy either.

I like both brands, I have not had an issue with any of my watches so reliability wise both are equal. My watches are bought because I like them and intend to wear them not because of retained value.

In short, not in reality. But likely so in perception. This beauty is running about -15s over the last 33 days. Full sunlight highlights the details best. Underwater chrono, built to be an underwater chrono.
Better regulated than my Hulk. Equally discontinued. Beautiful, but not quite as stunning and had from an Omega AD at about 1/2 the Submariner MSRP (at the time).

The only watch I can see a rubber strap on is maybe a serious diver - like a Seiko 1000meter Tuna. The rubber strap on Daytonas will not be remembered well in 20 years IMO.

USA! USA! USA! Well at least Rolex has the generosity of eating their profits by giving us a bracelet that’s made of more than 3 similar parts across all the lengths. The no taper thing is 100% laziness. |

Each to their own... but... I say Yes. Omega is nice watch, but I do not rank it with a Rolex. Just my .02 worth.

The only bracelet that doesnt taper with omega is the smp300 now, so one watch out of an entire catalogue….i expect that will be rectified, not before time when its refreshed…probably next year |

I think the market determines what "better" means.
Sometimes better resale value doesn't mean better quality. If you ask me, I like Omega movement better than Rolex, but like the Rolex construction, detail, tolerance better.

Omega's rubber straps are amazing and far superior to anything else in that price range. I don't know what you're talking about. |

For the ones that say Omega movements are better, I need to understand their argement with facts as according to my knowledge :
- Rolex movements beat at a higher rate of 28,800 vs. Omega's (non chrono) of 25,200 - Rolex movements have longer power reserve of 70 hours Vs 60 hours for 8900 movement - Rolex precision is -2/+2 Vs Omega 0 to 5 seconds for 8900 movement. - Rolex service intervals is up to 10 years vs. Omega 5 years despite co axial movement and lower beat rate to minimize wear. - Serviceability of Rolex movements is easier and usually less complicated than Omega's co-axial movements. - Both watches have resistance to magnetic fields. However, Omega has edge with 15000 gauss (could not find Rolex rating). - Omega movements have better decorations than Rolex (no real advantage) Having said that, I consider Omega movements really good however, I think the benefit of the co-axial escapment and magnetic rating is over exaurated in real life usage. |
