Love it....though of doing something similar. White face, not MOP, GMT (or ND Sub maybe) with onyx markers all around. Purest will hate it, but hey, to each their own. I thinks that looks fantastic.

I'm no expert and can only offer my personal opinion. I can see both perspectives, the "purist" and "modifier". For me personally, I'd call it "custom" although "aftermarket" certainly fits the bill. That doesn't mean others would not label it a "fake", certainly with solid foundation for that opinion. To me, this a "custom" dial made to suite personal taste and a specific wearer (you). It is not trying to be something it isn't; like modifying a SS Daytona with an aftermarket dial to look like the platinum version. Those knowledgeable about Rolex will know it's not "factory", those who don't probably won't know or care. Resale will always be an issue with "non-factory" modifications and as long as you are fine with that, go for it. As I've said, I've considered something similar and my plan would be to buy a genuine Rolex dial that is "redone" and modified to my specs but keep the "original/factory" dial that came with the watch. While this might cost more, if I sell the watch (which wouldn't be the intention but you never know) I'd return it to "factory" specs, sell the watch as such and then sell the "custom"/"aftermarket" dial (fake for those would label it that) separately and CLEARLY labeled as such. I like the concept, your watch, your money....get what you like....life is too short.

Guys we are having a discussion on the Dutch Rolex Forum and I need some help.
Some time ago I saw a picture of the SS Daytona with the dial from Platona. (Not photoshopped) Does anyone know where I can find this picture. The discussion does the Platona dial fit in a SS Daytona. Thank u in advance! |

It's like buying a Ferrari without the see-through engine cover. |

Hey Guys:
My Sub 16610 was looking kind of drab so I found an aftermarket insert and a refinished dial.... Twenty minutes at the watchmakers' and viola....

SD4000 with Red Date
I was able to source a red date wheel from Ommsen in the sales forum. My Rolex certified watchmaker installed it. Looks very cool! I have more images on the evolution at http://www.minus4plus6.com/SD4000.htm#red -Sheldon

I have seen 14060's with the red second hand and found it distracting, but I've seen DSSD's with a red second hand and red date wheel and it looked awesome. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... |

Can you share how you applied the enamel paint to the bezel? I dlc'd a Daytona bezel but am trying to figure out how to apply the white enamel paint to the tiny numbers. Thanks!

Well, this is a (over)polished bezel, so did some experiments.
The one that worked was apply the paint, bake (literally) in the oven for 15 minutes, dry and then - brush off the excess paint with a polishing pad. Not the best solution but for this case it worked. Maybe you can check this : http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...el-a-pictorial Should work for you with the dlc (and people with nice bezels). |

The info there is useful, it is the third Explorer bezel I am repainting.
Hope it works for you as well! P.S. Actually red painted on the Explorer polar looks quite nice in person, at least for me. |

Now THAT'S a model that should be available from Rolex. Well done! Love the blue. Is it a dial from a 16613Bluesy?
