If you don't mind me asking where did you source the bezel and get the work carried out? I have seen the bezel available here on TRF but as yet haven't found any place in the UK willing to do the swap.

Looks fab.

I also think the green insert would look great to make a new ceramic LV like the 50th anniversary version.

Look further back in this thread or seach as it has been done, well actually the member had a 116610LN and 116610LV and swapped the dials over (actually could of been the entire movement) as it was easier then the bezel swap.

Out of the two I thought the LV dial with the LN bezel looked great

Hi Sam,

I sourced the bezel right here on TRF from Walter aka WaqStar (top bloke). It was the complete unit, including the white gold surround, as opposed to just the ceramic insert. I used The Watch Doctor in Tring, Hertfordshire to actually swap the bezels. They're an independent specialist. I think it's quite easy to swap the whole unit but having never done it before I didn't want risk it.

Cheers

Yeah top seller

See I've heard mixed reports about the bezel, from what I gather it pops off similar to the older style but has a plastic ring which if it breaks must be replaced to hold the bezel back in place correctly.

My favorite thread here. I think it's great that many of the parts of a Rolex are interchangeable so you can change it up to fit your personality.

I've always wanted to do Mercedes hands on a SS Datejust with a a dark blue or black dial and a domed bezel.

<laughing> (I mean this to be funny, not disrespectful)....Really makes you realize how far out of touch we can be at times when we use words like "poor man's" to describe a $10,000 watch.
Reminds me of how funny it strikes me when guys say a $5,500 AirKing is an "entry level" watch.

lol no disrespect taken , my old friend who got me the dial said AL you must be bloody bored , done it for fun and something to do :)

always wanted to do a mod piece and when the parts came along I wanted I could , its the dial combo and hands and bezel I wanted , plus got the look and detail in the watch I wanted to create ,

pretty happy with the outcome , wear it every so often . more the fun in the build and execution

Kind of.....

The dial is from a 116710 and the green GMT-Master II wording has been changed from green to white ;)

Now I need a Maxi - Minutehand

Wow I noticed that I commented on this pic back in 2011 ! Times flies and I still love it. I'd love to get an insert like this for my Red 1680.

Great looking Sub you have there, again
