Thanks. I will certainly read more about it. I recently registered my interest for the Elegante 48mm, but the one reservation I have about the watch is the quartz movement. I came across the Vagabondage and thought wow! - it has the case of the Elegante + an interesting dial + automatic movement. Hence the curiosity about it. On the secondary market it seems to be mental the prices for one as well, not surprising considering it is LE. Was hoping some here with exclusive access to FPJ could shed some light on the roadmap for future Vagabondage, with the possibility of a more “mass-produced” variant. And also if those who have one, does the Elegante rubber strap fit the Vagabondage? Of course the current plan is to just get an Elegante (fingers crossed), but certainly keen to see an Elegante Equivalent with an automatic movement, ala Aquanaut Luce and Aquanaut with mechanical movement.

You should not worry too much about the quartz movement of thw Elegante. It is a great watch and you will not regret it. You should be more concerned that the Elegante will become your gateway drug to FPJ. It can be a very expensive hobby.

As for the Vagabondage, the chances of it becoming a regular reference would be low. As Mr Journe does not reissue limited editions. Even if it ever happens, it would be many times the price of an Elegante plus it would be very exclusive and most likely only offered to a very small group of collectors.

Being added to the Elegante 48mm interest list is a good sign. I thought it is already closed at the boutique and someone I know waited for 2-3 years and still no sign of it coming soon.

I would love to get Vegabondage 4, but I have a feeling it would be extremely difficult. François-Paul hand select who can buy his limit edition watches.

I did read an article about FPJ no longer having limits edition watches in the future.

I would thing you’d be looking at around 20k CHF by the time we get to 2028
Hope they go easier on the price increase in the next few years. Already had 2 sizeable increase in the last 18 months. A Linesport is 48,800 today

The drug becomes twice as expensive once the wife becomes interested in getting her own Journe watches

I highly doubt that price increases will slow down. As long as there is a massive delta between MSRP and secondary market the price increases will continue. I have already made peace with the fact that by the time I get Optimum and RQ that I will be looking at $500-600k

I hope you are wrong in both counts.

No more price increase and you will get the CO and RQ soon.

Any more major price hikes, I will not be able to most of the references on my interest list.

I don't believe that will happen. In fact, quite the opposite. I heard that they might do away with the ADs there and put the US boutiques in charge of sales in Canada.

I will not be surprised. I once asked if there will be another US Boutique and the answer was a quick “no”. The reason is that opening another boutique does not help with only 900 watches being produced. It would just be another “waiting room”. I guess expanding the existing waiting rooms is a better investment. Now we are getting bigger US boutiques so we can wait more comfortably.

I guess that didn't apply to the newly opened London boutique?

Maybe the London boutique is to make up for the Ukraine boutique?

Is there a threshold of when you cross into “fuck you money” territory? I’m asking for a friend

Truthfully, if somebody worked hard enough and saved their money. They can probably afford an FP Journe. Elegante has a similar MSRP as a Daytona.

Here's a picture that demonstrate wealth that is in a completely different league. This is a picture from this year's Quail during Monterey car week

A ridiculously beat up Enzo. Fainted paint, cracked splitter, extremely rough looking car. Enzo is a 3 million car and looks like it's used as a daily driver that parks outside.

I can't even imagine the net worth of the owner being less than half a billion dollars.

Yes! I believe the Series 3 was first offered to those with previous iterations and they even get the opportunity to have the same serial number for them. Those with all 3 even have a special box to store them together. Immense respect to those with all 3. What a sight to behold!

Indeed. One of the gentlemen who have it, also have the complete set of five 'Souscription' pieces with matching serial numbers. He said he got them at a time when nobody wants Journe watches

Santa Laura also has a complete set of five 'Souscription' in his collection.

Aptly named Santa!
Would be interesting to see what is the auction price for a full set of Vagabondage. I believe previously a full set of "Souscription" went for $2m USD?
So many watches to buy, so little money unfortunately for me

Cool Ferrari. And I disagree.. An Elegante which is considered a starter model is fetching for $40k. Other ones $60k and up. Most people cant save $60k to spend on a watch or even $40k

Elegante is 16k CHF. It is a similar price point as a Daytona at MSRP. intellectually, it is a stupid purchase when a Casio that's a better job telling time at $12.

With that being said, it is not impossible for an enthusiast to work hard and save to buy their grail watch.

It doesn't make any sense pay above MSRP for a fpj watch in production. It may take a few years for the watch to be delivered, but it can be had at MSRP.

It is almost symmetrical. I will try to pick a better time to take another snap next time.

It is almost that time of the year. Wishes everyone good luck with their allocation.

This remains my favorite watch and they can be had for roughly msrp and tax on the secondary. Buying an elegante for 40k would be criminal.

I remember as a kid in the 80s this guy around the corner from me with a silver Porsche, parked under a tree, covered in bird droppings, never washed, with kerbed wheels and dents across the bodywork.

It was a 959.

In Japan, its 3 watches as prerequisite to purchase a BL and 2 of them HAS TO be a higher complication watch. At least thats what i've been told. And also you need to write to the boutique why you want the watch and await "allocation" from Journe himself...I have no idea if its actually Journe himself haha BUT you will get issued with a certificate with his signature and everything.

Thanks for the info. BLCO is probably one of the best black label references. Hope I will see mine one day.

I have been reading up on the CO and it is indeed a complex technical feat for a watch which seems to be a seemingly simple three hander.
