Looks like something is indeed happening to the submariner date and no date. The prices in Japan grey importers are rising... either they heard something or they are anticipating some news.

Predictions, with reasoning...
• First, the obvious: SS Submariner with ceramic bezel…follows logically, given the progression of the solid gold Submariner 'C' two years ago and the Steel & Gold Submariner 'C' last year.
As an aside, I wager the LV ‘Anniversary’ Submariner released in 2003 will be discontinued…because keeping it would, in essence, be offering 2 different sub date cases/movements (Cal. 3135 vs. Cal. 3136, ostensibly)…something I can’t see Rolex continuing to do. I highly doubt they redesign the LV Sub for the new case, but it is a remote possibility I suppose. (all components would exist save for a green ceramic bezel) Discontinuing will also create excitement around the remaining inventory…make it MORE collectible? (remember, remember, the 'Pepsi' GMT!) For now, I also see them keeping the Sub (No Date) AS IS, solely as a price point item… • Expanded Datejust II options to include Jubilee bracelets, maybe a new bezel, and additional dial configurations. • A redesign of the classic Yachtmaster. It remains the ONLY professional series watch that has not seen significant updates in the last 10 years, aside from the Explorer I. (see below) AND the only pro series to still feature the workhorse cal. 3135 movement, (assuming a SS sub re-design) and, by extension, lack a Parachrom-blu hairspring. (outside of the current sub and Explorer series, see respective mentions here...) OR / AND? • Explorer II. They won't touch the Explorer I... Why would they? The II already added new bells and whistles, and they did not discontinue the original at that time. I expect mild aesthetic updates, and the New GMT II movement will be used (caliber 3186) • Having put a full diamond bezel on 36mm Datejust models in Steel & Yellow Gold and Steel & White Gold models in 2009 (something Rolex said they would NEVER do) I half expect to see this expand to 26mm and 31 mm Datejust models…only because it will move timepieces. In the same breath, they WON’T make full diamond bezels available for independent purchase…if you want a full diamond bezel on your steel/gold datejust, you’re gong to have to buy a new one! …Oh, and uh…across the board price increases. There were none in 2nd half of 2008 or all of 2009. The recession is ‘officially’ over, and price increases past due. |

I think your Wrong on a couple :)
Explorer I will be updated. FOR SURE.... as well as II. & II already has the new movement. I don't think they should update the Green sub, but I think they will. That does not make sense to me. Non-date sub is still up in the air. Yachtmaster although has not been redone is still a relatively new model so I only see a bracelet/clasp update. GT Quote:

Hi JJ, which one did you get your Super jubilee on? Just curious.

I get a feeling that Rolex may have something planned for the Explorer in the future. My issue is that the 36mm Oyster Perpetual is essentially the same watch, except it has the new and improved clasp on. Especially as the OP undercuts the Explorer in price, it leaves Rolex in a predicament. I reckon a size increase and the new bracelet are in order

So, ultimately I think the fate of the LV lies with the fate of the No Date Sub. If they decide to drop the No Date, then the LV will be history as well. Then again, if the No Date hangs around, then I guess the LV could as well. But ultimately, I just don't see two Sub cases staying in circulation concurrently for much longer. |

Sounds good. I am really looking forward for the new Daytona. I love my white dial though.

My guess is that the new sub will have a ceramic bezel and BCL, rather than PCL. To put both the ceramic bezel and the PCL on the watch would make it too similar to the new GMTIIc. Just a guess.

I predict SUB ND and GREEN LV will still be offered.
After V-series, GREEN LV will use the oyster case same as the SUB ND and classic braclet CAL 3135 is also used extensively on the datejust range so they will not kill off a series because CAL 3135 is in "short supply". It will never be |

I hope to see the blue lumi dial markers and hands added to the Sub, just like the DS.

If so, just curious why there are still SD 16600 in V series? Some even in the V4 running number.

It was just a final batch, probably using any spare cases and bracelets left in stock. The final ones came through over here in Xmas 2008, I think. In any case, there haven't been any since, and the 16600 has been omitted from the past two master catalogues

I cant guess I am always wrong. I have also been on another forum for several years. What ever I guess Rolex does the opposite. I am excited to see the new submariner. I am a submariner fan.

Hi
Im new to this forum but have been a Rolex owner since the early 90s. Im also a camera fan and its usually possible via a few forums to hear some new camera product news via leaks and good sources, I guess in the same way there are Apple forums dedicated to apple insider info. I know Rolex is a tight run ship but are there never any real revelations until day 1 of Basel? Thanks Rich |

I don't want to raise expectation in the slightest but I have been looking at a Daytona in rose gold and was informed to delay my choice till Basel. The independant dealer told me that he thought a oversized Daytona is on the cards in either precious or two tone metals as a bit of a shock!! Please don't hold me too it but to say the least my purchase has been on hold!

New here but been reading posts for a while. Can't say what they'll do, but I can say what I'd like to see and that would be two-tone ceramic bezels for the GMT!

So assuming it's released........
How much do we think the SS ceramic Sub' will be by the time it's hitting the UK High Streets chaps? I'll start the ball rolling with my own estimate of GB£4,950.00

I think at the next price increase (at or right after Basel) the current SS GMT IIC will be 5-10% more expensive than now, and the new SS Sub Ceramic will match its price tag. So I agree, in the UK it may be priced very close to GBP 5000.

The GMT II has always been a little more expensive than the sub. My guess is it will still be.
