I think that this whole shift started out with the hip-hop scene when the economy was booming and everyone decided that the new thing was to be 'icedout' which equated to platinum and diamonds. Well, it was hard to tell the difference between silver/white gold/and platinum from a distance so we have a culture shift to what we are seeing the remnants of now.

Mark my words, with gold the way it is going, you will start to see the shift back to 'old-school' thick gold necklaces, this too will have the knockoffs with plating and look-a-likes to the tune of what we saw in the 80's. Because the thing with fashion is, that it never stays the same, otherwise everyone could eventually afford to be in style. When this time comes, the TT will be all the craze and everyone will want one........then again I could be off my rocker.

So until the future reveals itself, buy what you like, SS, TT, YG, PT, WG, RG, when metal gets combined with a fine Swiss movement and gets "crowned" it will always be in fashion.

Can anyone speak to experience with marks/scratches on the gold polished center links? I can imagine that they scuff quickly which could deter people from wearing them. Would it make a difference if the center links were brushed instead of polished?

If you like gold and can't afford solid gold, it's an option. All the gold watches are a little flashy to me; I'd want something dressy and smallish on a leather band if I was going to wear gold. The TT DJ looks better imo than TT sports models.
