It's a nice watch, but as I'm not an Olympic athlete, I would not wear it, nor the omega Olympic models.
It made it's minimum, but I wonder what people thought it would sell for? He might have made more listing it on here, oh... Wait a second... Yes, actions do have consequences. Skimming the lots, there were some nice deals. I may have to try bidding on a couple lots one day, while the economy is still in the toilet. Did you see the results of all the Chinese art. Shocking. No downturn over there.

Hold you horses guys. The auction was in HK. Even though Tristan could send it to HK for the auction, I think it is quite unlikely. Has anyone seen him with an Olympic DJ? How rare is this piece? Could it be a different one that was on auction?

Perhaps Dalip saw it? I didn't follow his posts here, so I wouldn't know if he posted a photo or not. It seems like one worth showing off.

in one of Tristan's emails to Glenn earlier, he did mention his olympic DJ is currently getting auctioned off.... so there maybe some "truth" in it.

What I learned from my scam experience is that internet fraud seems to be a crime without punishment. My scammer actually walked into a sheriff's office with the stolen goods and returned them. The authorities knew at that time that he was also conducting scams on another watch forum. He admitted his scam and was allowed to walk away scott free anyway.
What does seem to influence scammers who can be identified and located is the possibility that someone may visit to personally collect the lost funds. Given the world-wide range of TRF and the significant resources available to its members, a personal visit is certainly not out of the question. If I was Tristan, I'd be a little concerned that at some unknown time and date, he could be confronted personally about the theft and requested to return the funds post haste. Andy Hayes, the thief who stole from me, wisely feared the unanticipated "muscle" of TRF more than the legal system. |

... I am so sick over this for you my "Go Fast" friend. What a greasy, grimey sleazeball "T" is.
Took my time to read thru the thread. No one deserves this. I'll have a good thought on its outcome for you. |

Interesting to observe in many instances how people very close (friends and family) to serial offenders still exercise a healthy skepticism in the face of compelling facts.
If someone sent me a spanner I'd like to personally return it and imbed it repeated in the cranium of the sender so the senders last cogent thought was the mistake he made in sending that spanner to me. |

Did you file a dispute with paypal? Time is of the essence in getting justice. I'm not sure if you've waited too long but you have to get the ball rolling ASAP. Posting on TRF is great but you should also have contacted the law enforcement agencies like a couple of people have suggested. You have to go after him from multiple angles and he may then succumb to the pressure.
Other things you could do: 1) Pull his IP address from his emails and notify his ISP or wherever he is sending his emails. 2) Contact his bank. While his bank may not necessary help you they don't want to be scammed themselves and will flag his account. 3) Take the spanner to the police station. It may be a veiled threat like "sending dead fish". Either way a police report will be filed. 3) Contact the police in his city/town. 4) Contact sotherby's and tell them your plight. Again they may not help but they'll flag him to save their ass just in case he tries scamming them too. Scammers have the shadows of the internet to hide behind but you have a lot of tools at your disposal to throw a floodlight on them. All these may not give you back your money but you'll make his life miserable to the value of the amount stolen from you. It's not good enough to believe karma will bring you justice. Who is this Karma fellow everyone seems to believe in anyway? :-) "Fight the good fight with all your might"! |

He can claim that maybe someone in the post office switched it or the buyer is in fact lying about receiving the watch. My advice to buyers is if you are not 100% confident in the seller: 1) walk away. 2) If your legs are walking away but your eyes are still blinded by the bright light of the deal, close your eyes. 3) If walking away and shutting your eyes doesn't stop your loins from yearning for the deal then ask to execute the deal on ebay. They have buyer protection that you can always fall back on. ebay pays up even if the seller doesn't. 4) If the seller refuses to trade on ebay, go back to (1) above. |

*UPDATE*.....Tristan has posted elsewhere that he and I have come to an agreement off-line and all is well? Not 100% true....he told me that he would have my money wired to me this week, we will see if he keeps his word. I will update this thread once that happens. Not holding my breath, it has only been 3 months.
Thanks for everyone's concern, support, and help, you are a great group and I consider all of you my friends. Glenn |

Good luck.
I'd like to see you get your money back, but I'd also like to hear what the deal was with the wrench. I guess the money will suffice.
