I originally thought that I wanted a new Explorer II. Then I tried it and the Yachtmaster on one after another. The Yachmaster just felt better on my wrist and jumped out at me a bit more. Unless something else pops up, the YM will be my next addition.

engraving

Can someone tell since when the yacht master is engraved with Rolex inside the face. I see on newer models and in ads , but not on older models.
Thanks for the info.

Right, thanks. So it's just the YG and TT models that have different second hands.
I like the platty, a lot, but there's a used TT with a champagne dial for sale at an AD near me for sale for good money :-) I'm tempted.

For myself a YM Plat/SS wins over an Exp II as well as I find Exp too plain (which is also one of its pros for someone who likes an under the radar watch) and imho the YM Plat/SS symbolises the YM.

Was it definitely 07/08 when the engraving started? Been offered one with no box or papers so need to be 100% sure!!

I've posted here already, but have recently taken some new pictures. I figure I'd add them to the thread!

Glad to see a thriving group of YM owners, in what can arguably be called Submariner Country! Just got mine a few days ago, after a decade of fantasizing! A-series YM. Love that there are hardly any differences with the latest ones being made, save for the blue one. Goes to show they hit the bullseye the first time around.

Made the downpayment on a full sized YM last week. I own a TT white Roman, fluted bezel DJ and a 14060M Sub but this is the most beautiful of all, in my opinion. No other Rolex like these!
Classy, understated and beautiful.

I completely agree. I think this is the 'best looking' watch. It may sacrifice some durability when compared to the other Rolex sports models, but I was definitely willing to make that sacrifice for its sheer appearance.

And to be honest, (knock on wood) I've worn mine nearly 24/7 for almost 2 years, accidentally banged it on several things and it still looks perfect! The bezel has held up much better than expected.

Thanks for that info. I was not too concerned about the durability because it will likely be an 'office' or social occasion watch (sub is the daily), but good to know it's not a 'vault queen'. I'd be just as afraid of the ceramic bezels, myself.

I Have a mid size SS/Plat. YM- and love everything about it- The sparkly sandblasted dial, the subtle red accents, the contrasting polish/brushed finish on the bezel- (which maintains very well indeed!) Besides the amazing aesthetics of this piece, its super easy to read- especially in low light, and the midsize has one of Rolex's best ever movements- 2235! (or so the story goes...)
In terms of appearance I think it stands alone- I haven't come across another watch,(from other companies), that could be mistaken for it,

Yes, and its face/bezel combination make it a standout among Rolex models too, I think. Really nothing like it in the rest of the Rolex line. I am surprised it is not more popular. I feel the love.

These pics, previously posted in the Gallery, capture the beauty of this watch. Can't wait to have one on my wrist someday soon.

I'm not yet an owner but hope to buy one somewhere in the future.

The YACHTMASTER I is imo the most underappreciated Rolex

Somethimes it's called the captains submariner

So if you're lucky to own one or you have some things you want to tell or ask about this gorgeous Rolex ... post it here

I have one of these... I just don't really like it. Don't get me wrong - the pics look great and the piece looks awesome on others... I just can't make myself love it. Wish I had not pulled the trigger. Stupid question - sorry for not researching this at all - does anybody know if the new blue dial YM (Blue Dial) can be swapped with the Platinum? Would Rolex make the Blue dial available - you think? I am guessing probably not...

Thanks,

IMO the YM plat dial looks too plain and simple... unattractive at all but i think the blue dial would look great.
