My dad bought his first Rolex back in 1972 for around 600 bucks. Today a new SS Submariner retails for around $7,900. 50 years from now, assuming a modest 6% annual price increase, that same watch will cost $145,519. Is that even possible that prices would go that high? Or do you think at some point, the price of a watch has to peak? |

depends on inflation and the value of the Dollar 50 years from now. like you said, 1972 it only cost $600 bucks... now its almost 8grand... back in 72 8000 is alot of money and no one would pay that for a Rolex. but in these days and in these times, its achievable. earning 4$ an hour back then you cant even really just buy a rolex...

High Swiss Franc (flight to safety over the past few years) has put pressure on Swiss exporters such as Rolex...China is booming in sales....hard to say what they will do, but when a stainless steel Submariner crosses the $10k mark, I think it's going to become a hard sell in North America with the slow recovery. Now with all that said, Rolex will probably raises prices this year....need the dough to pay for Tiger Woods...ha!
