How about a watch that charges by the minute? I say a Patek Philippe nautilus time traveler.

A good friend of mine is a trail attorney. He has a nice Rolex and Breitling collection. He has told me that he would never, ever wear one into court. For that it's a cheap plastic casio, or something similar.

Good advice, I think. Particularly, for a plantiff attorney. I'll take that a step further. If you are a defendant in a civil case, go cheap plastic. I've never been sued, but have had some med-mal classes as a healthcare provider. And have served on a jury once. The jurors formulate opinions and expectations of all the players starting during jury selection. Clothes, jewelry, cars in the parking lot ( in a small town, anyway) are closely scrutinized. Haves and have nots at least initially gravitate toward the players that they can most identify with visually.

If you are criminal, IDK if it makes that much difference. Maybe, maybe not. So in that case, I'd go with #1 Explorer 36mm or #2 Explorer II 40mm. Both are kind of stealth Rolexes, IMHO.

Day Date or DateJust - on leather strap. Flies low(er) on the radar...

Very classic Date Just or DJ II, fluted TT, or 2 tone submariner black, although a Daytona is a great choice but a bit sportier.

I'd go with an AP 15400.

If you travel, go with an AP Dual Time or Rolex GMT II

AP screams class

As a WIS lawyer, date just and day dates seem most common, then daytonas and subs, the. Patek, then some more unusual stuff. This does not count the guys wearing g shocks with their suits.

My vote would be a Daytona. I like my TT panda. At some point when I become more senior I will get a full gold sport model of some sorts.

Daytona... What do you use it for? To time jury deliberations? :)

I think before deciding on a watch, I would ask a few questions.

1. What image do you want to project?
2. Would you prefer a watch that people know the brand such as Rolex?
3. How important is it that the watch conveys the right message, as opposed to being the watch that you really want?
4.Will you use the watch for sports? Is it also a dress watch?
5. What do your colleagues wear?
6. Would your decision be different if were buying a watch for just yourself?
7. So do you want to wear something for the workplace or yourself?

JLC Reverso on a leather strap... A classic, conservative watch that looks perfect in a suit!

Stainless steel jubilee band 36 mm datejust. Just like what my old man wore during his practice.

The best for a lawyer is the watch he/her prefers the best, in my opinion.

Agreed, same applies for anyone!

I don't practice, however, I'd say go for a royal oak 15300

In my idea, For a senior lawyer; it should be formal watch with date specific.

Something understated, yet really classy in SS. I'm thinking JLC, Daytona, or DJII blue dial.

For a formal dress watch I think you get the most bang for your buck from JLC. If you want something a little sportier than splurge on a DDII
