I really like this reference... and the pictures everyone posted are great. But doesn't anyone actually use the GMT feature?! Every time I see this watch, the GMT hand matches the time set on the watch.

That's how most people use the watch, both hour hands synched to the same (usually home) time. It makes it easy when traveling to simply jump the 12 hour hand to local time when you arrive some place and the 24 hour hand continues to give you the time back home. When I'm home and need to track other zones I simply turn the bezel. If I have no further need to follow another time zone the marker goes back to the top and the hands are in synch to home time once again.

I must admit, I am not a fan of any nicknames for watches. Not sure why, just slightly bothers me.

Are they really going to make a Rolex for this Super Girl? What is that in the circle?

I hate Batman as well. I have always called it the "bruiser"or just "blue-black" Batman never resonated with me.

The GMT feature is the main reason I own this watch. Not only is GMT used in aviation, but it is a reference point for all other timezones as well. I rotate the bezel daily to track people in other timezones (otherwise I might opt for the Explorer). In fact, Rolex GMT was the only high-quality GMT watch not larger than 40mm waterproof to 100m that I could find. Although initially not a big fan of its appearance (mainly the lugs), it grew on me and I still don't know of any better

Batman really doesn't bother me much. Around me, the AD's seem to refer to it more as the Bruiser. I guess it's all in fun and what's collecting if we can't have fun.

I really hate the nickname, as well as any nickname. Watches have model numbers, and the names are the "nicknames." The 116610 is named the Submariner. No need for another name.

That's Hawk Girl, fwiw. It's just an identifier for easy remembering. Who cares what it's called it's a great watch no matter what. Not like the Chevy Nova that wouldn't sell in Spanish speaking countries because No Va meant no go.

This thread cracks me up. I get very few comments or compliments on any of my watches. But my BLNR does draw compliments and usually it's, "is that a rolex?" and I usually say, "It is! ... they call it, the BATMAN Rolex!"
PS. Love, love, love my Batman! ... batman... Batman... BATman... BATMAN! PPS. Agree with poster a couple pages back who said, "BLNR is lame" |
