I don't think this watch gives you that at all, rather it will invite ridicule from most people for paying so much for a watch that looks like the steel version. I would just be quiet about it and silently proud.

I'd unload the TT Sub, Daytona and Omega for the WG Sub

Despite the claims of the wg looking like SS
Depends if u really want that smurf. To me wg Rolex looks wg to me, ss always looks a bit darker My wg GMT II looks wg to me, much brighter but that's to me.. I'm sure the general public wouldn't recognize the difference between a Ss sub and wg sub (color tone, polished centers, and differe color dial, bezel) But really, r u getting wg so someone would recognize ur wealth or because u simply love it? I'd get the smurf because I love entire sub line and that blue silver color combo is genius It's the weight that holds me back lol Not sure if watch is the right way to show off wealth, a Rolex anyways. I've had people in Vegas asking me why did I diamond out my sub I just tell them it was on sale at a swap meet They couldn't even tell it apart from a sub to gmt As for durability, normal wear it does scuff a little easier but if ure wreck less as I am, they're about equal.. I've chipped and dented my Ss sub .. I'm sure the wg would suffer the same.. Except wg u can polish some of those scuffs out |

Thanks again for everyone's feedback. I decided to go try on the Smurf at my local AD today. I compared it side by side to my 116613LB sunburst and just preferred the shade of the dial and bezel on the 116613. Both the bezel and dial are darker and I feel the Smurf is more like an M&M blue. I know some will say the bezels are the same color but I am certain the bezel on the sunburst is darker and matches the dial when looking straight on unlike what some have said. I kind of knew that but I wanted to look anyway. It does feel a bit heavier but I knew that being solid WG. It was not as heavy as I expected maybe because I tried on the Platona before. In the end I feel the 116613 is a better looking watch IMHO and my friend agreed. I still think the Smurf is a great piece and if they give it the sunburst dial and bezel I may consider it but I would be floored if they did the same thing to the Smurf as they did with the 116613LB and I had purchased the flat blue Smurf. On a side note I noticed the magnifier on the Smurf they has was the small one vs the one on my 116613LB. It did not look right at all and seemed even smaller then my BLNR. I wonder why Rolex is doing this? I prefer the full magnification or none at all.

I don't believe the Smurf will come with a sunburst dial ever.
I have owned both at the same time and sold the 116613LB as I think the Smurf looks much more classy. It is not even a contest in my mind - but taste is different. |

I would not, precious metal watches do nothing for me.

I wouldn't trade any of those three for a smurf. You have a great collection.
