The only person outside of friends and family that has even asked about my watch asked this question.

I have never been asked but if I was I would say it's the real thing. I would never buy a counterfeit anything.

I get asked that often,
I tell them "the Asian man who sold it to me on the street corner told me it was real"! Damien |

With a coy smile I told them Bank of America seemed to think it was real. Sometimes I just say it was my dad's.

I haven't been asked in a while. The older I get, the more absurd that question sounds.

I use to smile, and to answer "who knows?"

We don't all have money to blow.
He just wanted to make sure that he put his hard earned money into the right investment. Would have been shameful if he still wore the fake BLNR and claimed it was a real one. Now he just made the right decision.

If I ever got asked if it were fake or real, I'd say "I don't support criminal organizations" and leave it at that.

The question doesn't warrant an answer...

I've had friends and colleagues ask "is that a real [Rolex / Patek / other brand]?" I usually answer by telling them about the particular model, what's special about it etc. Most of the time the reaction is positive, makes non-WIS realize the watch obsession isn't about status but other things (history, artistry ...) and leads into interesting conversation.
I've found that the "is it real" question isn't necessarily because the person asking thinks it's fake but rather because the non-WIS doesn't know how else to ask about a watch brand they've heard about but don't encounter or think about as often as people on this forum. It's an awkward way to ask about a watch but never meant to be an insult or accusation in my experience. Occasionally I'll get "wow -- I could never justify spending $[ ] on a watch" to which I say "it's no different from xyz person spending $[ ] on a set of camera lenses or abc's rare scotch collection." Most understand watches are no different from other hobbies when put in that context. |

1. Wear a replica. 2. Ask if someone else is... As the old saying goes, "he who smelt it dealt it" and I think anyone who would ask that question might be the likely wearer of a replica... I find that in my normal "circles", both professional and social, a Rolex, or some other luxury brand, is standard enough part of the "uniform" that the question would never come up. |

I don't recall being asked, but when I bought the Daytona last month my mother asked how much it was (she does not agree with my regular purchase of watches - yet wears a £12,000 Cellini).
I told her £800, she disputed the statement, then asked again... I just smiled and stated "a little bit more" |

You say shameful, I say smart. Don't have buyers remorse, not looking to flip my real BLNR, and wanted to confirm this was the Rolex I definitely wanted.
What other option would you'd suggest I'd choose before making such a big decision? |

I manage a pawn shop by day and we all know that makes me a skeezy arse hole but the beauty to that is all my customers think invecta is REALLY NICE. So they tell me all the time that I should upgrade and get more bling. My Firearms customers are bringing me firearms worth anywhere from about 10k-500k and really don't care though there has been a nice conversation or 2 about timepieces and I don't even think twice to admit try are real to them.
