Hello brmeyers and everybody.

To answer your question, I personally would either get a Sub C (I think you already ordered this) or the new Daytona C, which given its retail would count as a high end watch (in my book) though I keep steering away from Rolex, I truely always find myself saying they offer the best daily watches with the least headache. I know everybody has one yada yada yada but they are truely the best beaters out there.

Rolex ALWAYS offer three things in my books:

1) Relaible movement that needs services every 4-5 years
2) Ceramic bezel that doesn't scratch that easily unless you are a miner
3) Reliable steel that doesn't scratch that much or doesn't show, given it is usually brushed (less so the Daytona of course as half of the bracelet is brushed), especially if you compare it with the SS of an AP Royal Oak which scratches if you just look at it for too long...

Good luck with your hunt for perfection...

i would ask some RM owners about durability first. Seen a ton of RM with issues more significant than the AP counterparts.

Don't get me wrong, I love the RM design but durability is not the strong point. If you think AP scratches easily you are going to be in a whole new world of hurt with any RM case.

AP told you not to play golf with their watch? Sorry, I find that very hard to believe. They are one of the principle sponsors of professional golf across the world, with the winners of the Masters and Open already this year wearing AP.[/QUOTE]

Golf is one of the best ways to ruin a good watch.

Rolex is the king beater; APRO exudes class ; so u don't have to choose one , have ur Rolex for more rough activities and ur AP for the rest .

Totally agree. APs are fine for daily beaters but I still have a few rolexes that are true beaters. Used for rock climbing, shooting, deep sea fishing, construction jobs, working on the cars, etc.

Today, some guy won the US Open wearing a standard 42mm ROO...

I guess they can take it.

I have had 0 RM issues and plenty of AP issues. Granted the AP service is great.

I just got my RG ROO back on Thursday. So great! Missed it for that 2 weeks ;)

Still need a short strap!

I wear my Platona to the gym all the time and never had a problem. I wear it hiking, running, walking, too.

100% Agree....

Been wearing my ROO Chrono for a month now...not a single scratch.....

When I wore my Daytona for a month, all scratches suddenly appeared on polished surface....

Well done to Stan the man and his AP! Djokovic's personal problems have hurt him this year. Is it an affair or a miscarriage, anyone know?

I have come to this conclusion also.
I got a Hulk for my activities last month. Love that watch.
I am sure the RM could take it, just don't want to spend that kind of money on a watch at the moment.
After hearing everyones feedback, sounds like AP ROOs could probably handle the activities I engage in also, but my next AP will not be for activities.
I am still in the market for an AP, but its function will be more for going out (classy/dress casual) than working out.

I'm not that knowledgeable about RM, but are they really mostly 50m WR? I would then be very scared to go to the beach/ocean/swimming with one. That certainly would exclude the RM as a watch that can "handle anything" in "all conditions". Just as you think a "sports watch" should be usable for golf/tennis, in my mind, a 50m WR is laughable for a "sports watch".

The AP ceramic diver, even given that it may be potentially susceptible to shock, would be more versatile for ALL conditions I would think. Just send it in for service if a problem develops. Does it really matter that it's discontinued? Buy used from a reputable seller. Or go with the SS Diver (which I own and love) and just have it serviced and restored to perfection whenever you want. If you like the AP styling this seems like a no brainer/non-issue.
