My first decent watch was a tag link quartz when I was 17. Gave it to my brother when I was 20 and haven't worn a Quartz since (he lost it within a month

) I wear my DSSD as my hard use beater now. Hiking, climbing, riding dirtbikes, working on the car, etc. Its got some dings but it's still going strong 8 years later.

I'm aware of really good quartz movements but I appreciate cheap ones too. Less complex moving parts means you can smack and clunk them around without affecting accuracy. My work watches are not pretty and I wouldn't put any Rolex through that, I knooow they're tool watches but I do consider them quite precious and would be a hindrance to me.

Alternate my DayDate Quartz, Perpetual DayDate, Oysterquartz Datejust, Submariner YG, and Juvenia Premiere.
The quartz Rolex watches seem to garner the most wrist time of all combined.

I haven't worn a quartz watch in at least ten years; nothing against quartz, I just happen to appreciate the craftsmanship (and romance) of a mechanical movement so much more. However, a friend of mine recently got himself an Accutron Snorkel...that is a SHARP watch! I'm considering it myself

I guess it depends on whether one sees an expensive watch as jewelry or a tool. To me, it's like buying a high end pair of hiking boots, an expensive knife, a Land Rover, etc., and then not using them for fear of damage. I always wear my Sub, and, if it breaks, I'll get it fixed.

I sometimes wear the Apple Watch (aluminium) especially when doing some fitness for the fact that's a very light watch and useful for fitness. But they are very rare occasions. Sometimes, when I do fitness, i just remove my rolex

I really like my Grand Seiko, too. It's built as well as any stainless watch, and keeps perfect time. I actually use to set my mechanical watches when I choose one.

Yup! Omega Aqua Terra. Throw it on a leather strap for more formal settings or a nato strap when I want something under the radar.

All my watches are now mechanical with the exception of one.

Although not expensive it was made in Liverpool (City where I was born) which is kind of cool. The brand harks back to the day's when Liverpool was a major world port.

Ironically, it only seems to get worn if i'm going on a night of heavy drinking in a major city where i'd be nervous wearing a Rolex. Where I hear you ask? Yep, you guessed it - in Liverpool

Doesn't happen very often now admittedly.
