Ill pay close attention to the comfort though the next time i try it on as I haven't worn it for more than a minute or two. Spent most of the time admiring the back.

Tyler we can both try one on in Harrods at the gtg. I want to try one again as I loved it, but nothing could replace my 44 Royal Oak so if I get one it will be in addition.

i may just try it on twice. Once at Harrods and once at WoS

I agree though, it has to be an "in addition to" piece.

That's a tough one Jorge! White was my first love like many here, but I am a black dial guy at heart!

I think when it came down to it I would lean black as it's what I like, even if it means losing the warmth and charm of the pulsometric scale.

After all I'm no doctor!

Black dial is beautiful but I feel that once you loose the pulsometric scale it doesn't look like a chrono no more; looks more like a beautiful dress watch that is probably hard to read. Now the white one preserves the chrono look , true is more simple , boring if you will, but that also makes it more versatile to dress down. You know how our minds goes , today I am saying white but tomorrow I might be right there with you and say black ...Lol
Cheers 🍻

I've sampled the white several times and love it. I have not tried the 5170G or 5170R black dial so maybe I'd adjust my rankings.

I'll admit that my true grail is a 5370P and that makes me adore the black dial as a more attainable goal

Nice but looks too big on you. You'd be better off with the original 39mm if you truly wanted one.

Totally fair point. That's what my instincts say too. I like the Roman numerals on the dial less, but that said, the 39mm is also in my reach price wise.

He'll be fine when he moves it up his wrist by 1/2 an inch.

Sport club, " I want bigger wrists" or gain weight, I wear some watches on the right wrist now as have gained some weight, yes even the wrists are larger...

My biggest issue with Dato is that the case back actually has a good extra bit of depth to the case itself which in my case means it never sat that well. You can actually see it in the pics. In addition the case is deliberately very thick to assist in the 3D appreciation of the movement. It could easily have been made thinner (as you can also see) but then you will lose that depth. I can't deny its an attractive watch and I love the big date and I keep putting it on my wrist willing myself to love it but we never quite connect.

I probably sound like a broken record at this point but yet another reason why I'd go with an 1815. I've tried one on three times in the past few months and it sits well on the wrist! (and I have a smaller wrist)

I tried on the new RG Dato with the black dial and brown strap. Was not impressed. Mainly because the colors were clashing too much with the RG, black and brown. The AD didn't have the P on the black strap which looks much better (at least in pictures since I've never seen one in the flesh).

The sound was a bit on the quiet side my wallet was mighty relieved to find. Standard will do for me, but still have to get my head around a watch on leather.

I have had sporty thick leather straps, but this is a dressy thin strap so we'll see.

Well, the issue of the Dato has come back up for me.

I'm eyeing one that's located in Canada (hence huge savings on taxes/duties) at a pretty decent price.

I can say that I'm thinking of getting rid of not only my 44mm, but also the Jarno Trulli to fund it.

Thoughts?
