But why does it seem like the Yachtmaster (I am generalizing of course) is not very popular and seems to have low resale value?

I have a Hulk, Batman and a 16622 2002 Yachmaster and to be frank.....I think I enjoy wearing the Yachmaster more than the other two. Nice weight, so comfortable and just looks stunning. The dial and bezel are so striking.

The newer Yachmasters with the updated clasp and different versions look amazing. I'd love to get a blue dial one, but I can't help to think as soon as I buy it....boom it went down a few grand inn value.

What are your thoughts on the Yachtmaster and why does it seem like not many dig it, or the re sale value is so low? Thanks!

This is the best looking Yachtmaster ever made. The only thing I passively don't like is the red hand. I think this dial looks better than all the new dials Rolex erroneously replaced it with.
The case shape is sublime and the new rose gold is a masterpiece.
But the Submariner and GMT's iconic legend status are very huge mountains to over come, especially when costing more.

I like the Yachtmaster, but like the Submariner better.
Because most people think that way, the YM is not as popular.

We all have different respectable opinions about the YM and other models such as the Sub or the GMT or the Daytona..

But my opinion on MY 16628 is that it is the most gorgeous watch Rolex has ever made.

Cheers!

I may be biased, but my YM is my current grail. The size is perfect for my wrist. It’s more comfortable than my SubC. I love the platinum bezel under light and the blue dial is simply beautiful. I also love the fact that you don't see these in the wild often. Personally, I have never seen one in the wild.

This is my daily wearer, unless I pick up a WG Daytona OF one day.

What is up with the Yachmaster?

Underrated piece. Love my YM. I think the main reason it is not as popular is concerns about bezel scratches.

My jubilee was also marked 62510 H on the clasp and the end links were marked 555. The issue was that the end links were not fitting correctly. What number are your endlinks.

Big fan of the YM. Bought it new 17 years ago without knowing much about watches. Just that this watch spoke loudest to me. Only gripe is that is has the old clasp which I detest now after trying newer watches.

Anyone know which Jubilee bracelet I need to fit on it? Can the current 36mm Jubilee with hidden clasp work as a direct swap?

Good looking watch. If I had a house on Martha’s Vineyard and a yacht, I’d definitely own one.

I love the watch - particularly the blue dial. My main concern as noted before is the durability of the bezel. I've been known to slam watches on door frames before and I irk at the fact of putting a huge scratch on a platinum bezel.

Simple ... most people don't have a yacht that needs mastering. Personally, I'd feel like a tool if I owned a yachtmaster minus the yacht.

do you have a NASCAR that you race at the Daytona 500?

The whole idea of stock car racing is that its the down market version or car racing. So naming a watch after what historically is the lower end type of car racing would be the equivalent of Rolex naming the Yacht-Master the dinghy-master Nothing against car racing though.

Also, come to think about it, why would anyone need a moon watch?

I lust after the blue face YM. I have my Yachtmaster Offshore qualification too.

Anybody got any pics of those shiny lugs after a few years wear and tear they can share ?

So I presume kind Sir that since you own a GMT which was originally made for
aviation pilots, that you do own an airliner. Otherwise that would be foolish to buy a GMT without an airplane.

Cheers!

I got my YM about a month ago.

The low resale value and fact that many purchasers (from enthusiasts to laymen) would probably rather have a sub is something which appeals to me.

I was on the tube in London the other day and immediately saw two men wearing subs in the same half of my carriage. Don’t get me wrong, the sub is a lovely watch, but having a platinum bezel, blue dial and the red text/second hand makes this just a little more special, for me at least. Even in Harrods when I went to buy the watch, I was served upstairs beforehand (in the homeware department, picking up some glassware) and the sales assistant had a sub! Again, no disrespect to the sub, but it’s just so ubiquitous.

100% the ubiquitous nature of the sub takes away from it. I've owned 3 and seriously considering selling my kermit for a YM myself!

True, but on the contrary I have seen more YM recently than Submariners, in Florida.

My friend has a YM, my neighbor has a YM, and I just saw a random guy at a football game with a YM on as well.

I have not seen a single Submariner in months.

YMMV!

I hesitate to type this, given my left wrist, but I've yet to see a pic of a damaged platinum bezel. [note, haven't look too hard] I've been enjoying my YM since March (e.g., desk job, some fishing, hiking, running beach time, gym and swimming, etc.), and with an occasional scrub with a toothbrush and some dish soap, it still looks new.

my wife has the platinum dial 35mm and beats the hell out of it. I actually cringe sometimes. The bezel is fine, the bracelet is all beat up. So everyone can relax about the bezel as many models share the same PCL bracelet so complain about the bracelet if anything as proportionally the bracelet has not held up as well. I am assuming its PCL as TBH i cant tell anymore

In Miami, there are thousands of Porshe, and plenty of Bentleys. So what?? Not everybody can go with a Ferrari

I think I've said it before but wow, absolutely amazing.

I don't think it's fair bringing up this full gold YM or the latest rose gold one in this discussion. Those 2 >>>> a lot of watches.
