I was wondering that people choose 16710 because of its availability and price point, no flame intended since I myself own 16710.

If new BLRO is available at MSRP, is all people who prefer old version will choose the same option ?

Let’s be honest to ourselves

I have and love both. Each has its own charm and both are keepers if you can. To me they are the perfect watches.

The quote you are replying to and your reply are both about as flawed as can be. Because Cerachrom will never yield the same colors as the aluminum. You do realice that there are differences between the Kermit aluminum green and the Hulk cerachrom green ? The blues too.

If by chance technology allows for a change in color the new bezels would surely become available to current 126710 owners they would certainly not dump their BLROs. Along the way those BLROs might command higher premiums, collector value history on Rolex indicates zero dumping of older models.

New Pepsi vs Older Pepsi

Older bracelet all day long even if it costs more. Jubilee is so 80 years old style bracelet. :). Not for me.

5 digit advantages:
- can still acquire nice one for around $10k
- bezel colors more vibrant, font of numbers better with more spacing, and triangle at the top seems better shaped like on the dial
- oyster bracelet looks much more utilitarian and masculine

6 digit advantages:
- movement accuracy and 70hr power reserve
- supercase looks more modern (to me)
- ceramic bezel durability
- huge financial gain if you can buy one at MSRP
- if you put a SubC Glidelock on this one, would get all the looks advantages with solid links and far better clasp
- maxi dial and better lume

Other advantages of the 16710 are the interchangeable bezels. Love it when switching and changes the watch´s personality in 3 minutes.

I resisted the aluminum Pepsi for decades because it looked too cartoonish and I found it immature to use in the executive workplace. The 5-digit is at its best in the summer, worn with a t-shirt and a bathing suit. Superman red and blue were popular in the 70's but are nowhere to be found in clothing, home products, rugs, furniture, etc today. It's dated. Coloration and bracelet are strictly for the vintage Rolex enthusiast.

The 6-digit Pepsi looks just as good in that summer outdoor royal blue cherry red weekend casual environment, but because the Cerachrom turns the colors navy blue and burgundy in the shade or indoor lighting it becomes more professional and mature enough to wear with a business suit, a brilliant and long overdue move by Rolex. The 6-digit is the best of both worlds. Feels retro in the bright sunshine, feels modern in the shade or indoors.

Not sure what you are talking about here. You are as flawed as anyone can be.

I will clarify it for you as if you own quote is not enough. You are the first I hear about owners dumping their Rolex watches. Have you ever seen such a thing in six decades ? especially with the BLRO my Gosh.

That problem can be easily soved by siwtching to a Coke bezel which IMHO is dressier and elegant. 16710 has multiple personalities.

That's perfectly fine, but this thread is discussing Pepsi vs. Pepsi.

Seeing that the royal blue and cherry red Superman color scheme is the 5-digit's biggest downside, these types of manual workarounds really aren't an 'easy solve'. Not to mention a bezel-swap to Coke is actually switching the Pepsi to a different watch entirely.

The color-changing properties of Cerachrom fixes this problem effortlessly for the 6-digit owner. Bright throwback royal cherry Pepsi in the sunshine, darker mature navy burgundy Pepsi indoors.

The issue of coloration is a massive win for the Ceramic Pepsi, not the other way around.

Agree with you in that regard pepsi vs pepsi. The new watch is undoubtedly dressier, with the jubilee to boot.

I actually never saw a PANAM pilot dressed in his suit wearing the pepsi of those days, but recently here a member posted a pic of an older airline captain wearing his. I thought he looked mighty cool !!
