I always use my watch. That’s a habit. Even date is something I use my watch for. Unless I need a date a couple of months in advance. Or a week number.

I look at my watch. I assume younger people who grew up with cell phones would find it more of a conscious effort to look at their wrist for the time. Us older folks grew up looking at their watch so it’s a natural thing to do without even consciously thinking about it.

I do use my cell phone to set my watch precisely as I do like my watch to be right on time (the trace of OCD in me).

I’ve been a watch kind of guy since a little kid in grade school and I have always been an early adopter of the latest iPhone. With that said, I never look at the iPhone for time telling duties.

I’ve found it interesting that some actually don’t have the correct time set on their watch. Mine always has to be accurately set - it would drive me crazy if it weren’t.

Watch. For me it's more annoying to pull out the phone.

Same with the date. I just love cyclops lenses on my Rolex's and of course....another reason to look at my watch.

Watch...

Even though i used to work at apple i kinda have an issue with calling their device a “watch”.

It’s a bit more than a watch while being substantially less...

IMO of course...

I look at my watch. But if i happen to check out the phone, i will look at the time too. Guess it's hard not to since i always did that before i start wearing a watch again.

Watch for time and date if I have that complication on whichever watch I'm wearing. My phone is for calling of course but also for maps, texts, weather, email and so on.

So why you even post here if you do not wear your watch that often? Maybe you should try some phone forums?

Interestingly this was quoted by Jean-Claude Biver ... "We don't need watches, that's for sure. We wear them for other reasons : to track our health, activities, messages. Or we wear them to have a piece of eternity, something passed down to us or that we can pass on. But nobody should wear a watch to tell time - that is ridiculous."

That's why there are so many throw away cheap watches sold. To pass down to future generation in the landfill. He may have an opinion as CEO of TAG Heuer but it doesn't make it right. Connectedness via smart watch is good for some but a PIA to me. My other wrist gets a Flex 2 to quiet my cell and let me know when a call or text has arrived. That is done as a courtesy to my ears and others.

It's amusing to read this NOT for something along the lines of determining your own position through GPS readout vs. celestial navigation using a sextant and plotting chart, but for something as simple and basic as telling time using a watch dial.

Not surprising, however. Indeed, we're only a half-generation away from pseudo-adults who'll need to check a phone app to know when or how to wipe their own asses.

I can't imagine someone leaving grade school without being able to tell time at a glance from an analog clock; maybe the fault of "No child left behind" headed towards Idiocracy. I hope the OP wasn't doing more than justifying leaving his watch in a safe and not wearing it. Seriously if not being able to quickly tell time is the problem, it might explain some things.

I usually look at the watch for time. I look at iPhone for the date if I don’t know the date and wearing the Daytona or Yacht 2.
