Wow people are critical here. Sure, a watch is just a watch, but to many, a Rolex is a symbol of success and accomplishment. Some can argue no more horological accomplishment in a Rolex then other much more inexpensive alternatives.

To the OP, I think that feeling fades over time... not sure how long you’ve been a Rolex owner but nowadays I get as much enjoyment out of my Tudor and Hamilton.

It’s great. I usually walk in restaurants and immediately tell the server I am a Rolex owner and she has to seat me and bypass the wait. I roll up my sleeve and stick my wrist in her face to show her I am not bluffing. Same thing when I go to a bar. I walk up and immediately announce to everyone that yes I am indeed a Rolex owner and it helps my self confidence with the ladies. Upon hearing this news I usually have 3 or 4 hanging off me. They buy me drinks instead of the other way around. People move out of my way and bow to me as I walk by because of the watch on my wrist. Everyone is in awe. Fathers offer the daughters to me for marriage. Mothers want me to father their grandchildren. Wearing a Rolex gives me the confidence of 10 men.

This right there.

I know when I bought my first luxury watch it was an accomplishment for numerous reasons. The biggest was I wanted to pass something down to my son when he was born and I was lucky enough to be able to afford it.

Now 8 years later I appreciate all my watches the same and each one has a purpose to wear them.

I think it does add to my mojo. For example, if I went into an important interview and discovered I left it at home, I would feel a little funny. Not less capable, but I think it helps represent what I stand for. Quality, value, time-tested, resilient, accurate, durable, rock solid, value beyond cost.

I may feel that way with a $1M watch like the new JLC Westminster.
It’s just a Rolex.

I don’t know if confidence is the right word, but feeling the bracelet secure around my wrist and the weight of the watch, and seeing this awesome watch on my wrist definitely puts a little pep in my step on a day to day basis

If your confidence stems from a watch/outfit/car etc. - you've got big issues my friend

No change in my confidence level. Just happy that I'm fortunate enough in life that I'm able to own one.

You fill in the blank, but I agree, more of a pep in your step.
I like looking at my wrist and telling the time...

Though-
Self confidence comes from inside not a material object or a watch nonetheless.
Give this man a prize
If you're confident because of what you wear, you're not terribly confident, are you?

I dont think it gives me the confidence to do anything, that’s just my sheer will to succeed. But when I look down at my watch, i think of everything i have accomplished in such a short period of time and it makes me smile, because that watch is the spoils of my hard work. So if looking down at your watch makes you want to work even harder and strive for even more success, you go for it and dont feel bad at all.

To those lambasting the OP, not cool.. but especially the guy that went “when I walk into a restaurant,” wow you’re a douche bag!

There isn't much that helps my self-confidence (and attitude) more than a good workout. That might be a large part of what you were feeling.

I think you have been bitten by semantics. A lot of responders took your post as saying your watch is the source of your self-confidence.

Sometimes a look at a nice thing that you have earned is a reminder of what you have accomplished, and that can give you a little boost.

If you read "Every Rolex Tells a Story" on the Rolex web site, many (if not all) focus on the feelings the owners associate with their watches. "When I won this.... When I accomplished that..."

So... while you might have worded your original post more effectively, I don't think you're off base by enjoying a little satisfaction when you glance at your wrist.

I think you pretty much nailed it however you’ll never get any recognition from graduates of the Grand Institute of Snobbery.

OP sorry. I could’ve predicted for you exactly how this thread would go.

Not confidence but it does motivate me. I will see a nice car, house, watch, boat etc... and it will push me through a lazy day.
