Also, he also says to Cersei, "I never cared for them - innocent or otherwise," which seems untrue given his character arc and willingness to loose his hand for Brienne's honor.

And again, I believe it's entirely possible that Dany would go the same route as the Mad King, but the show did a poor job of showing her character transformation.

Understandable, given the time constraints, but then again they have wasted screen time on really small unimportant details as of late and rushed others.
Jaime is a song of ice and fire in himself, ie torn between Cersei and Brienne and in the end Cersei and darkness triumphed, which is GRRM's main theme. I half thought the NK would win out, but as that has passed then Jaime and Dany going dark are the very least I'd expect otherwise this becomes too much like Frozen.

Dunk and Egg, Mad King's father Aegon, is what many want to see, but the first prequel is going right back to the beginning with the Children of the Forest and how the Others or White Walkers were first formed. There are 4/5 stories in development.

I'd like to see the Battle of the Trident, Rhaegar and Robert and Lyanna, Jaime as Kingslayer and the Mad King burning Ned's father and uncle.

I like it and agree!

we should lay odds on who does Dany in?

Arya 3 to 1
Tyrion 5 to 1
Jon 50 to 1
Sansa 6 to 1
Brienne of Tary 10 to 1

Arya, disgusted by Jon "You will always be my queen, I don't wanna be King" Snow's transformation from a Stark-ish leader of the North into a knee-bending, half-breed Targaryen beta boy, will first kill him with the sword he gave her and then use his detached face to get close enough to delete the certifiably insane, white-haired Dany chick he threw in with who just horribly, unnecessarily fried/crushed/murdered more Innocents in a few minutes using her "scale-baby" bully breed dragon than 100 Cerseis could do in a lifetime.

Tyrian, also enraged at the wholesale slaughter and the realization he's allied himself with a genocidal maniac who's always looked for any excuse to regularly burn people and, failing to find one, does it anyway, will be killed himself while trying to assassinate her by the real Jon Snow/Targaryen prior to Arya Needling him.

Bronn will appear amidst the rubble and calmly put a bolt through a still-rampaging Grey Worm's throat because everyone knows you don't bring a spear to a crossbow fight. He will ride off in search of a nice castle accompanied by Arya because with the death of the Hound he's the only Pragmatist left she can relate to.

Agents of the Bravos Bank show up, quickly ascertain they aren't going to get paid back by the Lannisters (or for that matter, anyone else) and purchase all the scorched earth they can find within the city walls at low, low prices plus all nearby quarries and proximate forested acreage. They strike a back room deal with survivors of the Stone Cutter, Wood Cutter, and Masons Guilds and set up a slush fund to hire the muscle they need to guarantee any reconstruction work goes through them. They open a Hovel Depot to sell brooms, shovels, wheelbarrows, and slightly-burnt scavenged Iron Fleet timber at 10X the normal price but offer instant lines of store credit at checkout with a 24% interest rate, the same APR as their lending offices which pop up around town offering easy to qualify-for building loans as long as one can show a receipt proving they own some tools and basic building materials.

With all the bad people dead and because it's what she always wanted in the first place up to the point her daddy's head got lopped off, Sansa moves south unhindered to New King's Landing to sit on the throne. Accompanying her as her Hand is Brienne who's driven by her sense of duty and the uncomfortableness of wearing metal armor in the cold weather, but that doesn't prevent her from taking summers off and traveling back North for her yearly holiday romp with Tormond. When she turns up pregnant and gives birth to a gigantic red-headed baby who springs from her womb wearing skins and wielding a little battle axe, it quiets the whispers that had begun regarding her and Sansa's relationship fueled mainly by the latter's haughty demeanor, embittered attitude, and smart-assey comments. Seemingly having sworn off men, Sansa for a time contents herself knowing every time she uses the Queen's Latrine the sewer flows to somewhere below where Cersei and Jamie lay buried.

Bran continues to sit around under large trees giving people creepy looks making cryptic statements covered in bird droppings until the day while pointlessly warging far afield a large, dead limb breaks off and cracks his skull because none of his 3 eyes was looking in that 4th direction, Up.

Yara surprises everyone by leaving the Iron Islands and everyone in it for good when she hooks up with Bronn who has finally found the best castle with all sorts of creature comforts and surrounded by fertile lands to live in. She even begins to wear makeup and dresses and all wonder at the change. Although nobody would ever try to mess with her most agree she has a certain hotness about her when she's all dolled up and Bronn seems pretty happy with whatever she does. Bronn and Yara soon become the most talked-about and popular ruling couple in the 7 Kingdoms which pisses Sansa right off because now that she finally has her throne she nonetheless becomes dissatisfied, yearning for popularity too. She will never be popular, though. Not Ever.

Sam, being an honest and Learned man, writes an unembellished account of his own actions, studies it, and while he isn't exactly surprised to find by his own calculations he's spent 93% of his lifetime Total Luck allotment escaping the various violent and communicable disease close shaves he's had with nary a nick or cough, he's shaken to see that 85% of the 93% he's spent is directly attributable to Dumb Luck. Sam knows this 85% represents 100% of one's lifetime Dumb Luck allotment and, with no Dumb Luck left, if he wants to draw any of his remaining 7% Total Luck from the bottom of his Luck Well it must accomplished using only the "Make Your Own Luck" bucket. Panicking, he immediately adheres to a strict diet and begins a hardcore fitness regimen which is further enhanced by the addition of weapons skills training under the tutelage of Arya who wandered through on her way to finding (and possibly bedding) Hop Pie (since being married to his oven wouldn't try and tie her down with marriage proposals and all that jazz like What's-his-face).

Although Sam's first ungainly efforts at water dancing were met with a few snickers, with Arya's help and an assist from some Performance Enhancing Potion recipes he dug up from an ancient scroll, within 18 months he bore no resemblance to his former self. Studies forgotten, he becomes a full-time gym rat spending more time looking at himself than Gilly, who begins an affair with the household Librarian/Book-duster. After Arya's departure he develops his own form of martial art, Samkwando, and takes it on the road giving classes and exhibitions pulling stone-laden oxcarts with his teeth, defeating bears in pits, and opening cans of whup-ass vs local strongmen (not to mention "wrestling" an ever-increasing number of groupies). It's soon clear that Sam is over-compensating for the stings of the past that came with the dubious and disbelieving looks people gave upon hearing Tubby Sam killed a White Walker.

When Arya returns too soon due to Hot Pie's sudden and very inconvenient heart attack during their first crazy night of reindeer games, already being in a bad mood she becomes disgusted at Sam's misuse of trade secrets she entrusted him with and quickly dispatches him without even bothering to put on someone else's face.

Before he expires, however, the pain cutting through the fog of PEPs focuses Sam's mind and he has a Eureka moment seeing with great clarity what he missed; that making one's own Luck doesn't guarantee that it'll be Good because Bad Luck is a type of Luck too, and Lady Luck doesn't care if one only has 7% remaining, she'll dish it out anyway. So in this way, discovering something at the very last, Sam dies sorta happy which is the most anyone in that F-ed up world can hope for.

absolutely taking Jon.

IMO, that is half of all the knee bending they have him doing. It will be far more dramatic if he does it.

There’s no way it’s Jon...he didn’t kill Ygritte when he realized she was a woman and he won’t kill Dany either for the same reason...sympathetic male hero’s don’t look sympathetic by killing women.

Not me. And the petition to redo the season is ridiculous.

Just my opinion.

I think one of the problems with seasons 7 and 8 is that they did rush everything in order to get to the end. The books and the show weaved in and out of each other, with the show picking and choosing certain parts to dive into, change, or completely disregard. I understand why they had to do it, they did it from the beginning (hence, why Lady Stoneheart never made an appearance). The Night King doesn't even exist in the books (the Wights do, yes), but he is a pivotal antagonist in the show.

I read a good summary of the changes between season 6 and 7, after the cast renegotiated their contracts (for a lot, lot more each episode.... which I'm sure had NOTHING to do with HBO rushing to end the series...) and they basically went from telling the GRRM stories, who is a total pantser (i.e., writes by flying by the seat of his pants and creates giant, detailed character developments), after the books ran out and they turned into "plotters" (or writers who focus on the plot and how to get there at the cost of less character development). It basically explains why, with less character development in the later seasons, you see characters making decisions that are out of character (excuse the pun) for how they acted in previous seasons. Not sure I explained it well, so here's the link to the dude's Twitter rant: https://twitter.com/DSilvermint/stat...56091261136896

I still think the storytelling is some of the best that any TV channel has every produced, and it's been a greatly satisfying show to watch. I almost wish I hadn't read the books, because I would have had lower expectations and less of a disappointment when certain aspects were glossed over or excluded.

I'm not a huge Jon Snow fan anymore, because he seems to make terrible choices (not a new development in the later seasons, he's always made bad decisions) and yet comes out rosy and beloved. I think Sansa and Arya are stronger, shrewder leaders. And I think this last season didn't do Cersei any justice. She's been a HUGE driving force of the entire series and the paired her down to less than a half-hour's worth of screen time, with most of it being stone-faced or pathetic. Terrible ending to a brutally awesome story arc. Same goes for Jaime, terrible ending for him.

Whatever. It's almost over.

I’m feeling pretty good about this one.

They want it to be a surprise. They want it to be dramatic. They want it to be some that someone would expect!!!

I’m trying to get a McLaren here man. I need the loot.

With that many moving parts, there could have been 2 or 3 more seasons. I will miss the show and under the circumstances, i think they ended it respectfully.

I think that is the only issue, the timing of it. I have no issue with any of the storylines and how it all played out. I wish they would have had the battle of winterfell in episode 2 and used more time to let the relationship between Jon and Dany deteriorate.

I agree. Such a long lead up to the point where Dany destroys King's Landing, and a switch flipped for both her and Jon, poof and the story is done. Really this season could have ended with "The Bells" and another 6 episodes next year to sorting out the status of the kingdom. I would have been okay with that. Instead everyone goes their separate ways bittersweetly ever after.

I was out of town this weekend and wanted to avoid this thread until I saw the finale.

Great call, Seth. You were right. It really couldn’t have been anybody else.

Send me your PayPal/venmo so I can contribute to your supercar fund.
