Yes Sir, belt sander/grinder with integrated lapping disk. It is definitely a very good step up from doing everything with a felt wheel.
But eventually I'd like that Rolex brings a more complete lapping machine with tin disks for doing complete case re-cuts like LA Watchwerks does.
That combined with a laser welding machine and the hands of a skilled craftsman can really restore cases to perfect condition.

Hey Bas, if you don’t have a laser welder what do you use to restore dents and dings in cases which would typically need a laser weld to restore?

Sorry, I got too excited, didn't read further down. I looked too good to just be a buffing wheel. I wish RSC in US could do this quality case refinish.

Most dings are removed during the grinding of the case, but not everything is removed and will remain visible after finishing. We might get a laser welding machine in the 'near' future though

The cotton buffing wheel is used after grinding/lapping to achieve the high shine polish

Final work is free handing the chamfers and polishing them. Which is sketchy to say the least

I thought Rolex didn’t service watches with movements that were discontinued more than 25 years ago? There has been some grumbling here about them not serving vintage watches and pulling parts accounts from independents so they can’t work on them either. Is Europe different than the US?
