FWIW, I love gold, and for those who care what other people say to wear, it's on it's way back "in." Just picked up a DD today. Not too shabby.

I remember in 2000, I was in Singapore and had just purchased my black dial SS Daytona. I went to the Rolex Center on Orchard Road to get the dial changed on a DateJust I owned at the time and one of the young ladies working at the RSC asked me where I bought my Daytona. I told her I had just purchased it. She asked how much I paid. I wouldn't say since I had paid a premium at a Singaporean AD. She said it didn't matter; she knew what it would have been. Her parting comment was, "I'd have paid $4000 (SG) more and got the gold." Gold is a precious metal with inherent value in our world. Steel is just a metal. I love TT watches, though I don't own one at the moment. I see them everywhere. I don't believe much an AD tells me about sales figures because they often have an agenda; though, of course, there are exceptions and I know dealers over here I trust. When I tell the proverbial mall AD I haven't visited before that I like TTs, they usually sing the praises of TTs. If I say I'm a stainless guy, they tell me how great it is to buy a tough and affordable (?) SS watch. If I tell them I'm into solid gold watches, they talk quality and tradition. They say what I want to hear if they're any good at selling things. I am influenced by opinions of others, but in the end I buy what I like; and I have owned several TT watches. In many ways, my biggest Rolex regret is selling a TT GMT II I bought in the mid-90s in Singapore. I still miss that watch. |

You hit the nail right on the head Otto. Up until joining this forum, i have never been that keen on gold/ jeweled watches, but some of the fabulous time pieces on show by other members have led me to really appreciate their beauty. Its just fashion. I am 34 and almost all of my friends have ss/ wg/ plat. wedding rings and watches. Hardly any have gold. But friends in there forties and my parents etc generally have yellow gold. Scott is correct when he says that gold is on its way back in. People in their twenties are much more keen on it and if you look through fashion magazines at the moment you'll see lots of it.

I am in my late 20's and can say that gold seems like it's making a comeback.
I find it nice when you have a hunk of gold like a DD on your wrist. It just looks so right! Forget a platinum DD, give me a YG one! |

I6-S54B32 - Great, you just stereotyped Jewish women and gay men. Why was that necesaary? Two of your favorite things, no doubt. A little sensitivity and respect goes along way.

You're the man, Scott! AP Chrono last week, DD this week. I've been lusting for a YG Day Date myself. Congrats!
