Spending $$$$ at the Rolex ADs on non-Rolex items ....

Let me think ..

I have ,over two decades, spent some money on a few Mont Blanc pens ,Mont Blanc travel wallet for my wife ,which she didn't like and that I stole and have been using for the past 10 years ..
Few refills for the pens, ink ...and that's about it .

I find this "waiting list spending " quite amusing .

Do it the old school way .Ask and you may be surprised what you receive .

I called up an AD today in UK to enquire. In order to get on a list you need to come into a store and sign a document.

Fair enough, these guys get dozens of similar calls a day, many from out of town.

Long story short, the guy kept whining he had so many customers asking for SS models and how limited quantity Rolex is supplying these days and there is no "wait list". And I do get his point - he hinted to me the only chance I can get hold of any of the SS models is to spend $$$$$ to get other stuffs from him and by then he might be able to offer me something.

Ironically, on the same evening I bumped into a guy who was wearing a 116500 and we started talking. I told him about my story earlier in the day and he commented to me saying that he asked for the 116500 at the same store, and was simply turned away despite spending over $200K there previously. At the end he made the purchase elsewhere.

This is really sad. Even if you thought you had good relationship with the salesperson and the store it just doesn't count anymore these days.
Which AD was this in Vancouver? I have been hearing same cat and mouse stories for all of them. Not surprsing maybe, Vancouver is a Meccah for money laundering and one AD even got nailed big time for it. Google it.

That's not what they mean when they say "relationship".
Erm well I’ve become good personal friends with my contact at my ad. We chat most days about everything from watches to marriage!

They are also human beings so if you get on with someone there’s nothing stopping striking a friendship up like any other. Of course if you do that to attempt to get a professional piece that says more about you than them.

What the other guys aren't telling you about is the Super Special Handshake.

There's also a dance....

Wow, you already have a great collection! I hope the special-occasion gift works out one way or the other.

This is correct, no way, with a Daytona. Maybe with the GMT Batman, maybe.

So you will not be buying any sports/professional models from your friend at the AD ?

Stores back open here and already been knocked back by Goldsmiths, I’ve been on the so called waiting list there around a year (although been trying for over 2.5 years at other stores) and refreshed my interest by email during lockdown, received email from them today with the usual, “Subs are in high demand so can’t give any idea of timescales for supply”, i’m not paying grey prices, still waiting for another outlet to come back to me, but I think it will be the same answer.

The problem is everyone and their granny are after a sub. Do you have purchase history? At least that rises you a bit above the crowd
