I think AD’s put a request into Rolex as to which models they want - like you say, what they ask for & what they receive might not be one & the same.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

25tons? Its only a 20footer load container worth only. Lets say each watch consumes 100grams of steel. there are 1000000 watches produced a year. It just eats 100000kg a year of steel. or just a low 100tons a year. Say theres wastage of 300tons for every 100tons made it to the factory. Thats only 400tons. or just 16 containers of steels. The Empire State Building is composed of 60,000 tons of steel. |

Just yesterday I was told by my new AD they could order any reference. Lead time is the "unknown" for some but the estimated time for a DJ was 4-8 weeks. They can be ordered from my sources. |

Oh no, we're doomed! This can only mean we won't even get to see dummy exhibition models of future releases...

There are shortages and supply chain issues all around the world with a lot of things. Where have you been?
Car manufacturers have been stopping production because they can’t get supplies, I have computers on order for new staff since June with nothing in sight, supermarkets in my area are starting to look empty by 1pm, farmers can’t source seeds in some regions. And this only the beginning. Wait until China takes Taiwan… |

What he said. If any SA / AD / whatever said anything about ordering from Rolex they're lying through & through. Anybody in the dealership business knows about this. U must buy every model.
U can't order anything except for the super rare full-bling non-catalog stuffs. As the holder of the franchise u have to swallow whatever they throw at you, across all product range. U can't say u want 100 daytonas & 10 datejusts, fact is they'll send you 100 datejusts & 10 daytonas. Hence, the market we're in. That said, the steel shortages is real. Especially stainless steel. Perhaps Rolex will make less of it since they can get more margin selling TT / full gold. |

Perhaps steel buyers need to “bundle” with platinum.

Steel has been highly priced recently but not by so much that it would have an impact on Rolex's ability to get hold of it.
Assuming they buy merchant bar, this is currently going for usd615 per tonne. I can't see rolex requiring more than a tonne. Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk |

Perhaps their foundry had a "schmelting" accident?

One thing is sure, we’ll never know since Rolex will never make a statement about anything

I tried to buy some cutlery today but was knocked back because I don’t have a purchase history.
Definite steel shortage. Good news is they said if I buy some pans I don’t really want they’ll put me on a list. |
